“Chorizo panini and cinnamon bun”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

We tried to make it to this restaurant for 4 straight days and never managed to time it right. It's only open from 8 to 3 Tues to Sat. Finally made it and loved it. This is a husband and wife team who make sure they provide good quality and quantity for a reasonable price. We were warned that the Panini were big so only ordered 1 and asked for it to be split and we found it plentiful. Wanting to satisfy our sweet tooth we also we had a fresh made, warm cinnamon bun filled with almonds and other nuts. We've never had something so decadent. This couple supports animal rescue on the island while providing a great lifestyle for their children. We will definitely be back.

“Overpriced and too small”
Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

Visited this morning cafe for breakfast. This place is aimed totally at Americans and is run by the same. It is open 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday. There is very little seating. Regarding the food, yes it is all home made bread but for Mexico it is expensive. Think it was about 120 pesos for a sandwich, when 50 yards around the corner and towards the sea with the ferry terminal at the next junction on the right is Poc Choc, where there are big rolls for only 25 pesos, I would rate there higher than here.

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review & are sorry you did not see value in your meal. We are not the cheapest place to eat on Isla. We do serve the highest quality of product & do make all our breads & baked goods homemade which to do increase our food costs. It seems more important to us to have a higher quality then to buy premade products.

We too are frustrated with the size of our restaurant & have plans to move to a bigger location as soon as one is available!! We will then be able to be open more days & for dinner. The location we are in now limits us because of space.

We are originally from the United States & incorporate some of the baking techniques from the states with wholegrain breads, bagels & baked goods like our cupcakes & cookies. What we love about Isla is that their are so many restaurants with different cultural influences. We all take advantage of the wonderful fruits, vegetables & meats in Mexico but add our own cultural twist to them. Making Isla a melting pot of flavors from Italy, Cuba, France, Israel, the United States & many of the other regions of Mexico.

Our clientele really varies on the season. In high season, there are more North Americans from Canada & the United States on the Island. As well as Australians & Swedes. In the summer months most of our business is Israelis & Europeans. During Semana Santa our business is mostly Mexican nationals. We do pride ourselves in having a diverse clientele. We have found that the majority of the TripAdvisor members that come to our restaurant are from the United States & Canada.

If you are interested in a more traditional Mexican sandwich like the one you had at Poc Chuc, you should check out AA Tacqueria next to the Navy Hospital's emergency room, Carnitas La Noveau Esperanza behind the Yamaha dealership North of Chedraui or Deysi & Raul's El Charco in La Gloria just over the hill from Lemon. Those are our favorite places for Mexican sandwiches.

We hope you enjoy your next visit to the Island.

Our best regards,
Brad & Tiffany Wareing

“Why can't you come home with me?!”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

We went here for breakfast/brunch several times during our stay. The food was awesome. The staff was just as great. This place was always packed but we got lucky every time and were able to get a table within a few minutes. Food came out fast also, which is why we decided to sneak one more Barlito visit in 30 minutes before we were supposed to catch our ferry back to the airport. So good! You must go here!
