Description: Pita Amore - A unique fusion of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine, prepared with love, on a family-secret pita bread. Chino, vegetarian, chicken and beef and beef with egg ommelet. Nicely basted with a pesto, grilled to perfection on a plancha. Topped of with the secrets of our French Culinary Institute of New York Graduate Chef Ricardo. This food is addictive - a single visit just doesn't cut it. Unbelievable to find this quality of food in Isla Mujeres near Cancun Quintana Roo Mexico.

“Amazing cheap food and a genuinely inviting host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2010

So this is THE place to get your cheap lunch and/or dinner on Isla. here's why:
1. The food is amazing. 4 different types of pita to choose from. To be truthful the pitas are more a cross between pita and a sort of Mexican open burrito or something. Together with the house salsa - mmmmmm amazing.
2. The price. No-where else on the island can you eat this well for peanuts.
3. The host. Ricky, owner and head pita-constructor, seemed honestly very happy to meet us and to serve us. I felt like I was his only guest even though his little place was full. AND.....
4. Atmosphere. Fantastic blues playing through the speakers, along with various languages being spoken around you, and that smell of the pitas cooking. Man I miss this place.

Look, if you're travelling on a budget, or even if you just don't want to hang out with people paying $40 for huge American meals, and want atmosphere, good food, and to meet other travellers, Pita Amore is the place. After discovering it on day 2 I returned for the following 4 nights for dinner until I left the Island. I'll be back on day for more Pita Amore for sure.

“Yummy food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2010

This is a small, cozy place where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. There's a simple but delicious menu cooked by a Mexican chef who trained in New York. If you're looking for a laid back place and a genuine Isla Mujeres atmosphere, then this is it.

“Great gourmet pita sandwiches. Owner...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2010

Great gourmet pita sandwiches. Owner Ricardo graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York and worked at Jean-Georges and Le Cirque before opening his own restaurant in Merida. Now he's 'retired' to Isla and runs this little restaurant. A bit hard to find but worth it!
