This was on our eating frenzy down Hildalgo our last night on Isla. We had planned on going to La Bruja but they were closed (we were bummed) so we walked down Hildalgo eating and drinking along the way.

We saw someone with the Quesa Fundido at Mamma Rosa's and it looked so good, we stopped. And it was the best we had on Isla. Wish we had found it sooner.

Hello fellow travelers. My choice to rate Mamma Rosa comes after over a week of eating truly terrible food in almost all places we visited in Playa Del Carmen and Isla Mujeres (Tulum was only slightly better). Granted, we didn't stray so far from the touristy places, but we read reviews here on Trip Adviser...which haven't gotten us very far. So, we write not in hopes to improve your dining experiences.

When we sat at Mamma Rosa there was a terrible odor coming from a nearby sewer--not the staffs' fault of course, but it was terribly uncomfortable. We moved three times, finally inside to avoid the smell. The service was quick--a little too quick, it seemed, to fully cook the vegetarian risotto that I ordered. The taste was decent, though hardly worth the nearly 15 US$, but the rice was extremely undercooked. We told the waiter this who then tasted the risotto and exclaimed, "well, I'm sorry you don't like this, but to me it's perfectly cooked, but I'm Italian so..." They did bring us a veggie pizza and didn't charge for the risotto, but they entire experience left a bad taste in our mouths.

So, where should you eat in this town? Lord knows, good luck finding something tasty. We ate at another restaurant the previous day and got very sick from what seemed like delicious sea food. So...sigh. Good luck :)

Great food and service. Best Calamari I have had. Pizza had a cracker crust that was amazing. We had heard many good things about this place and were not disappointed.

Pizza is really good with very thin crust. They told us that a pizza was only "personal" size and that we should order one each. We could have easily shared one and been fine. Mojitos are good too! Good location, good service. We sat outside but the dining room looked nice too.
