We have stayed here maybe half a dozen times in the last 10 years and have never had a bad experience - quite the contrary. We have stayed in both the two bedroom and one bedroom units on several floors, and they all have wonderful views of the ocean. Our favorite is the third floor single which has been recently renovated. All the employees we have encountered are very cooperative and very helpful. On our last visit, the day manager helped me arrange a tour for my family in the biosphere that was really quite wonderful, including a float down a Mayan canal. It was rather expensive for us and I was hesitant, but with his reassurance we booked it and had no regrets. He also helped us rearrange our flights and rooms when our return flight to Boston was canceled because of snow. As a result we got two extra days in 'paradise'.
We are looking forward to our next visit this coming January, and this time we're staying for at least two weeks.

Only reserved for one night and ended up staying a second night. Located in between Garrafon and Dolphin Discovery and very close to Parque de los Suenos, we really enjoyed our stay here. Please note that this hotel is nowhere near Playa Norte and downtown centro and a car/golf cart/ 100-125 MXN Peso taxi is needed to get here. We brought over a car from Punta Sam and the parking lot is quite small - can only fit two cars or three golf carts. Also note that the breakfast only consists of a few pieces of sliced fruit, a ramekin of yogurt and some bread rolls. You will need to order off the breakfast menu to feel full. The spa prices for massage are expensive - about 60 USD for one hour - comparable to prices back home in Northeast USA, so we did not utilize those. The service by Osvaldo is outstanding. He takes all feedback very seriously and can sense right away if you are not happy with your stay. The beach is rocky, has some broken glass and small sea urchins - which we told Osvaldo about. There are also a lot of mosquitoes here. So bring plenty of bug spray, sunscreen and water sandals with straps on them. Water socks will not protect you. We only had dinner and drinks there on when we first arrived. Restaurant service and food were good. The room is excellent. Had an obstructed view of the ocean because of two palm trees. Room had some local television channels, A/C, a mini fridge, in-room safe, and a bathtub. There was some mild noise from the water pump every time you flush the toilet or take a shower. Open a tab when you first check-in for the restaurant charges. Not recommended for travelers with physical disabilities - rooms are only accessible by stairs.

Room Tip: rooms that face both the pool and beach, no palm trees obstructing view, no water pump noise.

My husband, son and I ended our 8 day visit to the Yucatan by spending 3 nights at Hotel La Joya in Isla Mujeres. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the ocean and exceptional service from Oswaldo and his staff. This hotel is small and quaint in comparison to the all inclusive chaos in the resort communities. The food in the small restaurant on site was fresh and delicious. Isla Mujeres is still a taste of Old Mexico amid the rest of Maya Riviera.

We loved this hotel, and were so happy we chose to stay here. The view is stunning, the pool is amazing, and the manager and employees were kind and helpful. Be aware that this hotel is on the south side of the island, and you'll need to take a taxi if you want to visit town. For us, this was not a problem whatsoever. Also, you can walk to both the turtle farm and the Maya temple... AND the hotel has purified water available for guests, so you don't have to be bothered with buying tons of bottled water. Come prepared to relax, pick yourself some beer and snacks, and get ready to enjoy this beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms have amazing views of the water. Stunning!
