“Bean Soup!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

We enjoyed our meal at La Lomitas. Walked from town, not a bad walk if its not in the heat of the day. We speak little Spanish and the staff there speak little english, but we got by fine. Bean soup was served before the meal. YUM! I ordered the chile relleno. It was good and I would order it again. My husband ordered breaded squid. He said it was good.

No beer bottles here. Beer is served in frosty mugs.

“Worth a trip or two”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

Great food - selection and quality. The owner wasn't shy about plunking another couple down right next to us and it ended up making for a great meal.

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Be sure to try their chicken mole and their chile rellanos! It's a little off of the beaten path, but well worth leaving the tourist traps along Hidalgo!

“Delicious Yucatan Pork!”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

La Lomita has a large menu but they also have great daily specials here...just check the board against the outside wall. 50 pesos for delicious Yucatan Pork (2 huge pieces) including rice, salad and tortillas. Have a 20 pesos beer in a frosty mug and you've got an amazing meal.

There's tables inside or 3 or 4 tables along the street. Great place!

“Chile relleno”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

This place is out of the way (south of the main drag) but worth every step up that hill it's named for. The portions are pretty big and usually come with a soup so be careful not to over order like we did the first time. The chile relleno is the highlight but they also have really good ceviche.

The only beer they sell is Sol, though, so you don't have much choice there. This is the real deal, home-style Mexican food you always think you'll get in Mexico but mostly don't in tourist areas.
