“Lucky Discovery”
Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

We arrived on Christmas Day and decided our hotel was less than advertised so we just started to walk around on Calle Hildago and found Hotel Belmar above Rolandi restaurant Lucky for us
We ended up w nice 2nd floor room we cross ventilation ,great shower and very helpful friendly staff We paid high season price of $110 during holiday week then it dropped to $77. All breakfasts off their menu included
We spent 17 days there then left for a week trip to Chiapas then back to Isla Mujeres and the Belmar .They stored our extra bags until we returned
We were moved to larger 2nd floor front room w balcony but a couple of nights u can hear some loud music
Didn't bother us and I kind of like being in the center of things and we had a short walk to beach and close to the wonderful restaurants in town. We r starting to plan next years vacation here in Isla Mujeres

Have gone back trip after trip and will only stay at the Belmar! It's like going home. Small, clean
and feels like Mexico. Love the staff too, it's no nice to be welcomed back every time by name. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Only wish for a fridge in the room.

We stayed in Hotel Belmar for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The location was central and the rooms were clean and very comfortable with all the facilities you need. The breakfast was particularly good and we enjoyed being able to order from the menu rather than having a set menu. The staff were nice and helpful.

The only slight criticism we have was that it was slightly noisy at night as we were on the street side. However we were expecting this and the nice balcony made up for the noise.

Highly recommended if you want to stay in the town.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room with a balcony.

We came to Isla Mujeres without any hotel reservations and came across this quaint place located above Rolandis. The price was great, the atmosphere very cozy and centrical to everything. Plus they had wi-fi at no extra charge.

If you are looking for cheap clean and decent, this is your spot. Theres nothing super special about this, but as i said it is very clean. Think of it as a nice clean Motel 6. Its in the heart of the downtown, and u can hear some noise. I was alone and paid $32 for one night alone. I had room 25 which was great. Their is restaurant downstairs, and you get a 10% discount there. The food is actually really really good there. I ate breakfast and dinner there.

Would stay here if i was on a budget and i only needed a clean room to stay in. Simple as that.

Room Tip: room 25 was mine, and i liked it

This hotel is well located and has a nice façade with a pretty good restaurant downstairs (Rinaldis). The hotel, however, has some really poor service and lack of consideration for their guests. Like another poster, we had to request hot water after coming home from the beach. After three unsuccessful requests we were told to simply let the water run until it got hot. It never did and we needed to bathe our 22 month old. The whole ordeal took nearly 2 hours and made us late for dinner with other family members who were staying across the street. The staff here are deceptive and lazy. They know the boiler was not on, they simply go through this charade to save money and face. I wish we'd have complained harder because this simply is not acceptable at this price.

Other problems: our bed did not have a sheet, only a comforter which was much too hot. The pillows are gigantic and rather hard. The room (25) was musty smelling, likely due to poorly constructed bathroom that doesn't drain right. Overall, not a place I'd consider staying at again. There are plenty of better deals closer to the beach.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 3rd floor, the noise from the restaurant will keep you up.

We stayed one night at the Belmar after we had some difficulties with the apartment we rented. We needed to check in early at about 11 am and there was no problem with that. We got a 3rd floor room near the back of the building and it was very private and quiet. The rooms are cute - saltillo tile floors and talavera tile in the bathroom. It isn't super fancy but it is clean and well maintained. Good A/C, very comfortable beds and bedding, good little tv.
Note that there is no elevator so the third floor is a walk up.
The price was very reasonable and it is an easy walk to anything on that part of the island. Very good food right downstairs. When we have guests come to visit this is where they are going to stay.

Room Tip: Third floor is very quiet but you do have to walk up stairs.

Located in the eastern-most part of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, this little fish-shaped island right across Cancun is famous for its tranquil turquoise waters and its friendly inhabitants.
