Just came back from Villa Rolandi and want to pass on a few things....
Great spot..nice hotel..by far not a true Small Luxury Hotel by and standard..except its small.
Service lacks, horrible english, no Italian, no french and sounds like spanish is from the street. Rooms are a flashback from the 70s
BUT..be very careful there is no pool!! It is buried under wood planks until past December...the Spa or so called Spa is under construction..Grounds are being fixed...roads being dug up and repaired.
We were told itwould be over in a few weeks...no way they didnt workon pool at all..so beware....noise dust and charlie's angels flashbacks..
We checked out Secreto which is heaven then Casa de los Suenos sown the roadon the island...both by farmuch better properties.Luxury peace, spas great food....
So youhave been warned!!

My wife and I spent 9 days at this 20 room hotel in June and were delighted by the privacy and personal service we experienced. Dinner was a highlight of each day due to a combination of great food and friendly service. Usually meals can become redundant after several dinners in the same restaurant, but we were pleased by every dish we ordered over eight nights. Our dinner on the beach was particularly romantic. If you have fond memories of Cancun 20 years ago or Cozumel 10 years ago, before growth and cruise ships, you'll love Isla Mujeres, and Hotel Rolandi is the perfect way to enjoy this quiet, relaxing island.

OK, so a trip to Isla at the height of hurricane season is (1) hot and (2) a good candidate for trip insurance, but we were just blissed out by our week at Villa Rolandi during their low season. The staff were delightful, the food was delicious, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Low season rates here are an excellent value. The key to our fun was a rented scooter that the front desk will gladly arrange - this let us zip up into town to Playa Norte and the beach bars, down to the beautiful sculpture garden at the tip of the island, and back to our lovely hotel - without the hassle and expense of a taxi. We will be back!

The Villa Rolandi exceeded all of my expectations. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful in making this a most relaxing experience. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful. Enjoy continental breakfast from your balcony overlooking the ocean. The menu selections for dinner/lunch are bound to make even the most finnicky diner happy. Save room for desert as the presentation from the wait staff is as excellent as the desert. There are many excursions that you can take advantage of and the staff will assist you in your selection and trip arrangements. The beach is quiet and has a beautiful pool waterfall backdrop. I would definetly return to Villa Rolandi!

From the moment we stepped on the Villa Rolandi Kat to take us to Isla Mujeres, we knew we were in for real - get away from life - break. Our dock-side greeting by the hotel manager, complete with lavendar scented towels and drinks only confirmed that we were in for a treat.

My wife and I seek small, out-of-the way resorts. We don't like crowds or glitz. The long weekend we spent at Villa Rolandi last fall was ideal for us: the food, the location, the room were all amazing.

The rooms are simple and elegant, with a wall of sliding doors opening onto a balcony and the ocean breeze. The bathrooms are incredible, with walk-in showers and a built in steam room. Try to get a 3rd floor room. The vaulted brick ceilings are something to see.

The hotel's name "Villa Rolandi Gourmet and Beach Club" accurately emphasizes the quality of the food. Lunch and dinner were wonderful (we just had coffee and juice for breakfast). We ate lunch - warm potato and spinach salad, brick oven pizza, etc. on the beach nearly every day. The Swiss / Italian dinners were equally outstanding; and dinner on the beach is not to be missed.

The hotel beach is small but very nice and quite. The only outside noise came from boats delivering passengers to the adjacent Dolphin Discovery. VR's sailboat was fine for sailing the calm water around the hotel.

We found the location perfect. Because you can fly into Cancun, it's very convenient. We had time to kill, so we took a city bus to town and caught a taxi to the boat launch. Less adventurous should just take a taxi directly to the dock. Isla is MUCH quiter that Cancun. Downtown was touristy, but small. We went into town a couple of times, really just for a change of scenery and to stretch our legs. Though town is within (long) walking distance, we chose to take taxis - the roads are a bit too narrow.

Even with breakfast and lunch/dinner included in the price, Villa Rolandi isn't cheap, but it's refined simplicity is worth every penny.
