This is the house and gardens of the first man to settle on Isla Mujeres. The house is a testament to the history of the Caribbean lifestyle of the early colonial pirate days. The park is off the beaten path and not geared for entertainment, it is more of a community center for the locals and reminder of the past. Every morning there is some kind of event or class happening at the large palapas at the entrance. I stopped to join in a community yoga class and mingled with the local ladies. It was a great experience. For under $2.00 a person you can walk through the island's history and if you show up early enough join in a community class out front.
