“A night to remember”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Lola makes the night so special. You need to go to find out for yourself. The food was really good and really reasonable. We walked across the street to pick up a couple of bottles of wine which you can do too if you forget. Finishes off with a nice fire show. Nice conversation with others all evening. Please make reservation way ahead.

“Not just dinner, but an experience”
Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

Every year we visit Isla we're always sure to spend a night at Lolo Lorena's. It's my favorite place to spend an evening.
Like previous reviews have said, the food is amazing. 5 or 6 courses, each one a plate of culinary delight.
The ambiance of her courtyard is striking. It's just so inviting and comforting.
And Lolo herself is just such a delight. Such a wonderful loving woman with a passion for food.

Keep in mind that it's a full evening event. We've been there for 2 or 3 hours at times. Bring a bottle of wine (or two), settle in, enjoy the company of fellow travelers, take in the spectacular setting, and your evening will be an experience, not just a simple dinner.

“Great evening! Love Lolo Lorena's...”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

We read about this on TripAdvisor and were intrigued. Our hotel, Casa el Pio, set up our reservations and we were glad we did.

The setting is whimsical and elegant - set in the courtyard behind an old house with colorful decor and twinkling lights. One large table is set for the whole group and it was a ton of fun to get to know others there. The food came out at a perfect pace and we enjoyed every course.

If I go back to Isla, I will definitely be back!

“Enchanting Evening - Amazing Dining Experience”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

First time in Isla and Lolo's kept coming up in my research. Decided to try for my best friend's Anniversary celebration. Everything was wonderful. The eclectic, courtyard setting to the beautifully presented and delicious tasting food! Lolo was a gracious hostess throughout the meal. And to top our evening off, after a long night in the kitchen, she and her staff helped us with golfcart/ transportation issues. It was quite an evening. A "must do" if you are in Isla,,,

“A magical evening”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

I read about Lolo's on TA and knew that it was a must while on Isla. I took my teenage son with me and we had the best meal of our vacation. It rivaled any meal we have had at fine dining restaurants in Chicago, New York and San Francisco.

First, the atmosphere is magical. Garden setting, communal dining, candles, twinkle lights. Casual yet elegant.

The servers are lovely and attentive.

Lolo is so charming. Her love of food and what she has created in her home is contagious. She made it a point to spend a few moment with each guest prior to dinner - and when everyone was seated, announced each guest by name. I have never been to a restaurant where the chef is so intimately involved with her guests.

The food is something to behold. We started with polenta and mussels, then a homemade cannelloni with 5+ different cheeses. Then to a refreshing Thai salad. The entree was beautiful prawns over basmati rice. Dessert was divine - a selection of sweets - our favorite of which was a custard with the essence of rose.

Afterwards, we were treated to an amazing fire show - what a special treat.

You can bring your own wine - so be sure to stop across the street at the Chedraui where they have a nice selection of French, Chilean and Spanish wines.

We especially enjoyed getting to know our fellow diners - and shared wonderful conversation and laughter.

Our meal at Lola's was a highlight of our trip to Isla Mujeres. At approximately $80 pp, this was a small price to pay for a meal so exquisite. (you would expect to pay at least $120pp here in Chicago)

(Our teenage boys enjoy adventurous and fine dining - so it was natural for us to eat here. Please note - you take your time here - it's relaxed, yet the experience is a couple of hours. And thus, it may not be appropriate for kids under 16)

Please don't miss this wonderful restaurant.
