“A model of what all Marinas should be, A Marina with a Soul.”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

I have hopped from Marina to Marina from Monteray Bay to Corpus Christi by way of the Panama Canal. I have been burnt at some and helped at others. Sometimes you tie up and immediately you feel like your being sized up for how much they are going to be able to take you for, others are truly trying to be helpful while making a living. This is the later plus much more...
We came into the channel between Isla and Cancun and got nailed by a squall the depth soundings were not matching with the charts we had and were getting shallower. We called for Port Authority for guidence in Isla and were answered by the EL Milagro staff. Who jumped in their Panga and guided us in.
We put our yellow quarantine flag up and they asked us very nicely to put it down... we will deal with it Manana. Today is National Marina day and it is time to party. I was there when "Jenny824" boyfriend came in. If it were not for the crew at El Milagro he would have run onto a reef they did save his bacon.
He needed more charts and about two more crew members.
About three time a week they seem to have a fish BBQ and they know how to do it right. Sometimes they pass around the hat and ask for 150 pesos a person other times someone brings in a fish and they just cook it up. This is for all Yachtistas and folks who are staying in the Hotel (which is where I would stay if I were there). I talked to the owner Eric a few times on the phone seemed like a nice fellow but it is the four J's Jaimie, Julio, Juan and Jose also known as "Rock" that seem to be the soul of the place. If you need anything done to your boat they can get it done, They know everyone on the Island. I would be a wrong not to mention Rosa who does Laundry and cleans so well or Inga who balances the books on the weekends. If you are going down you might butter their biscuits a little by getting them some nice flip flops Jaimie is 9 "Rock " is 9 Julio 11 and Juan is 7.
It's hard to find such a great staff as Eric has... I plan to back and apply for a job at El Milagro as you can tell I did really enjoy my stay there. if you want more info please write me at tadsmalley@gmail.com Westsail 43 S/V Rag Tag Circus

I have never been to this marina, but only have wonderful praise for Eric and his staff. My boyfriend was sailing solo from Fort Myers to Belize to meet me for vacation when he ran into bad weather. He lost his engine and radio, had been sailing for days without sleep, and was sick. The only communication he had was with me through short emails via his gps system. He needed help, and had to bail out of his sailing trip near Cancun. After many phone calls to different entities trying to get him assistance, Eric returned my missed call and orchestrated a rescue for my guy. He was weak, beaten up, and ready for land. Eric and his staff towed him in, fed him, and helped get him through customs. Their kind actions are priceless to me! They saved my heart, and for that...THANK YOU!

While sailing solo from Ft Myers FL to Belize, I encountered terrible weather as I battled huge gusts across the Yucatan channel. I had lost my engine a few days earlier and was in really bad shape due to lack of sleep and dehydration. Through my satellite communication I was able to send out a distress call to my gf in cleveland. Through sheer good luck she was able to contact Eric, the owner of El Milagro, who was in California. Eric orchastrated my rescue through countless texts and emails with my gf and had a local fishing boat come and tow my disabled vessel to safety. Once I was safely ashore, weak as a kitten, his wonderful staff started nursing me back to health with fresh conch ceviche and cervesas! In the morning his staff had already lined up customs and immigration and taken care of all my paperwork. After clearing in I explored the grounds and found everything freshly painted, fairly priced and perfectly charming. I think I may stay awhile! Thanks guys!

El Milagro Marina & Hotel is a wonderful place to spend some time if you are going to Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
After spending 50 hours crossing from The Dry Tortugas, we pulled into El Milagro Marina. There we were greeted with open arms into the family of staff & guests. It is a perfect spot not too far from downtown with 24 hr. security. They are very helpful in getting entrance papers taken care of with Immigrations, Agriculture, Health & Customs. What could have taken a full day of running around, Julio (the manager) got it taken care of in a matter of hours.
There are electric plugins, water, TV, wonderful outside showers, a movie room, Saturday night dinners for the guests of both the marina & hotel & most important is the helpfulness of the staff. They are there any time you need something or have any questions that need to be answered. They also have bicycles to use & laundry facilities at a very reasonable cost.
This is a place that is not fancy dancy by any means but has everything you would ever need in a marina & hotel. The rooms are spacious & very clean. The pool is large enough & overlooks the marina. There is a community kitchen & grills anyone can use whenever you want.
This is a place we will be going back to. Hopefully you will find El Milagro & enjoy it.

Room Tip: Because we stayed on our sailboat, I can not really help on this matter.

Stumbled onto this place on the internet while looking for a surprise get away for my husband. We had been to the island a year before while we were staying in Cancun. We fell in love with Isla and spent 3 of our 4 days there. Since we had never really stayed on the Island I was looking for something. We like out of the way, unique places and this place had such great reviews. I had several questions and Eric was easily assessable and super friendly. I booked immediately after talking to him. Booking was easy. Once we got there I was amazed at how friendly and helpful his staff was. The place was amazing and we knew we had found one of our new favorite places! Clean. Very affordable. Friendly. Super spacious. We were in villa #4 and it had the feel of an apartment studio as apposed to a hotel room. Met some very interesting people from all over. Everyone there just raved about their stay. We have been to many places in Mexico and the Caribbean and this has become our favorite. Town is easy to walk to or grab a cab. We were planning our next trip here even before we left. The only thing that would make this place better is more comfortable beds. But I am super picky and rarely sleep well in any other bed. Small price to pay for being in paradise!

My partner and I stayed in Villa 3 for 5 days in May and we give El Milagro 4 stars! When we arrived we were greeted by 3 members of the super friendly staff and they made us feel right at home! When we had finished introductions we opened the door to Villa 3 and found the room clean and in order with an air conditioner that was super quiet. The room was sooooooo cold that we had to turn the temp up a couple degrees! Now when do you ever have to do that! Nicely decorated with a mayan feel! The kitchen had all the pots, pans and utensils needed to cook up some great food! The coffee maker worked great and the fridge was nice! Not one of those tiny fridges you see in some hotels. The bedroom and bath worked nicely for us too! The shower room was gigantic and there were several mirrors for dressing!! Lots of towels! They have a very nice covered area in case it rains(no rain while we were there!). Ping pong, bikes, kayaks, corn hole, a movie theatre, a great little library, darts and basketball and way to many hammocks just hanging around help to make it a wonderfully affordable place to take your sweetie or family on vacation! We asked the staff for some seafood and they brought us fresh snapper and lobster the very next day! They always recommend a great place to dine or have some fun! Centrally located mid island, El Milagro is quiet @ night but close enough to walk to North Beach for a fun filled day! There is delicious dining on both sides of the Villas less than a minute away! Both were yummy with great drinks and engish speaking bartenders/servers. The little store beside the building has lots of items you might need including some very cold beers! All in all, it was the best vacation in 10 years! Viva La El Milagro! We love the place and hope to go back soon. Please tell them that Herb(The Barracuda) and Chris from North Carolina talked you into staying with them! They'll treat you extra good if you do! xxxooo A+++

Room Tip: WE packed tea bags, packs of sugar and creamer to have the first morning because we knew that we wer...

El Milagro was recommended by a friend of mine and I am so glad that we took her recommendation!!
As soon as we walked up, we were welcomed and treated like family by the staff. We stayed in Villa #3 and it was perfect for us. It was very clean and nicely decorated. It also had a kitchenette, which we loved and used to cook up a storm!
We also really liked the property. There is an area for ping pong, darts, and other games. They have a ton of books, if you want to swap out yours. There is a communal open kitchen, sitting areas, and bbqs for the social butterflies! Hammocks for the siestas. Little tables and hammocks by the water, a perfect place to have your afternoon beer or coffee and sweets. They also have paddle boards and kayaks available for the guests. (at no charge)
The location is about a 15 minute walk from the town center in one direction and about about a 15-20 minute walk to Chedraui supermarket in the other direction.
We were able to buy super fresh, right off of the boat lobster tails from the fishermen right next door. They were literally cleaning the lobster catch of the day right in front of us! Yum! And at a fantastic price!
The owner, Eric, is super nice, personable, and helpful. Jamie, Julio and the others on staff were also fantastic and there to help out if we had any questions. They can also help to negotiate a great deal on the lobster and fish from the fishermen next door!!
We will definitely be back!
