My bf and I visited this island in March for 6 nights and it was amazing. We stayed in a superior room with Jacuzzi tub and had an amazing view of the ocean. We tried to upgrade to the platinum suit, but unfortunately the resort was completely booked. The staff and service were great. Shout out to Ponce for amazing drinks at the pool bar and excellent service. He made our stay!!!! When i do go back, i do not think I will do the all inclusive package. The restaurants on the island are absolute amazing!! We ate off of the resort every night. The island is very relaxing. its safe to rent a golf cart and travel up and down the island. You must visit Soggy Pesso ( they make one item daily and its amazing). Mango Cafe for breakfast and Olivia's for dinner. Everyone is very pleasant and I cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: Ocean view for sure, if not, you might be facing the cemetery

My wife and I visited Isla Mujeres for 2 weeks beginning February 16th, 2013. We arrived in early evening and made the short 10 minute walk on foot. We had booked a Premium Suite and stayed in building #3. Our room was huge. it had a great bedroom and bathroom. A large TV in front room and in bedroom. The programming wasn't great so we never even turned either TV on during our stay. The large front room was kind of a waste. Great view from the very large deck overlooking pool area with ocean 150 yards away. We had a hot tub(jetted 2 person bath tub) on our deck. This tub came in handy on cooler, wet days. The mini bar was inconsistantly restocked. We had to phone once to get the mini bar restocked and the hotel threatended me with a restocking fee. The rooms were well appointed and kept clean. Our air conditioning was quiet and worked quite well. The grounds were kept up very well. The pool area is quite nice. Wonderful wicker chairs. Lots of shade and shelter on windy and hot days. The beach is one of the deepest on the island. The sand is the best we've every seen. Not so good due to it's powder like texture on windy days and this island gets lots of wind. There were plenty of palapas which offered great shade on hot, sunny days. The beach staff are very good continuously serving the patrons needs. The water along Privilege Aluxes beach gets deep quite quickly and there is sea weed in that area. The breakfast buffet at the Sabor Restaurant is very good. Lots of variety and it changes everyday. We never did try the lunch at Sabor but we understand was a la carte and quite slow. The lunch at the Beach restaurant was just okay. The food was somewhat greasy and very limited. The evening buffet at Sabor was ok - buffet food. The Satay Restaurant was quite good. We ate there twice and both times the food was good although they did have trouble cooking a steak one evening. The dinner at the Beach Restaurant was very good. We did have to pick your evenings due to wind and rain. The food and serice was very good with a great menu. The alcohol drinks for all inclusive guest were below average. Only draft beer was served. The cocktails were very inconsistent as far as the way they were prepared. The alcohol served were good quality brands. Carlos in the Satay made the best margarita. We were able to have espresso coffee made every morning at the Sabor. The hotel did allow non guests to eat, drink and use the facilities? As this was not a totally all inclusive resort, I can understand this policy. We reserved loungers every morning but it seemed that there were open loungers at the beach and the pool. The fitness centre is very small(1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 recumbent bike and a set of dumbbells). It is glassed in making it very hot and humid so we worked out early every morning. Privilege Aluxes was good value for what we paid. I would consider non all inclusive and go out to eat at the nearby restaurants our next trip.

Room Tip: We liked being in a Premium suite with a hot tub on the deck.

The privilege is nice. The grounds are beautiful and the location is hard to beat. We had a premium suite with lots of space and endless balcony. We had one extra feature... water running down the wall...usually just a little a few drops here and there. After the wow of finally being there wore off we realized our room smelled like mold.... and the bathroom smelled like open sewer pipes ( only at times ) .

At first we were too busy to really care... but after about 4 days and water I I could see running down the wall I stopped at the front desk and asked about the water and the smell.

I kind of got the impression the front desk clerk, Jesus, who checked me in thought maybe I should have given him a big tip as he gave me "the best room" .. and I had originally planned to when I left.

Anyway he seemed a little irratated and sent some one up to the room. The maintenance person that spole little english said it was the pool above us leaking....

Ok... so when we came back from diner... they had painted the wall... ( and fresh drops were running down ) . They also turned on a pump or something above us because for the next coupe days we heard the low roar of the pump.

All in all it had some great points. I did pay a lot of money for a premium ocean view suite, it is not like you gave me the hook up. I am not so sure you deserve a big tip, You could have asked me about the room on the next 10 times you saw me pass through the lobby. You could have sent a bucket of beer to the room, I would have laughed it off. I am not so sure your pretend it is not happening approach was the best.

This is a great safe first visit hotel.....and from the reviews I read I think my experience was not typical.

We stayed at Privilege Aluxes 9 nights the beginning of February and it was a great experience. We traveled with two other couples and there was something for everyone in the way of food and drinks.
Once arriving by ferry, we walked the short distance to PA. Not too far, but there are bike guys who will take your luggage while you walk if you prefer. Check in was a breeze, as was check out, thanks to the front desk crew.
We especially enjoyed Cafe Del Mar and the wait staff there... always quick with a drink or food order and very friendly. This is situated on the beach and you're never without a drink while taking in the sun. I would encourage you to tip them for their hard work... in US dollars. The buffet at Sabor Restaurant was varied so we felt we always had good choices. Seafood night was a special treat.
We rented a golf cart and took in the island one day. What a blast. On other days there was snorkeling, sun bathing, shopping on Hildago Street, lounging by the pool at PA... made fun by the wait staff of Ponce and Miguel and others. We never had concerns about our safety while on the island. If you're needing an American 'fix' go to Jax right across the street. We watched the Super Bowl in 80 degree weather from their top deck. And we loved their shrimp cocktails and buckets of beer.
We will definitely stay at PA again. In fact, we plan to return next year. We had a great ocean view from the second floor balcony. The rooms were very spacious and within minutes walking to the restaurants, beach and pool as the resort is not too big. It was the perfect size in my mind. Our bathroom shampoo, soaps, etc. were replaced with new when needed; our mini fridge was stocked, although I wish we could have requested items for the fridge. Oh, and room service is 24 hours a day for food and drink.
Some in our group went with Captain Tony snorkeling and to Contoy Island... they strongly recommend him.
I held off writing this review as I really don't want any more people to find out about the place! It was a great vacation at PA and Isla.

We stayed here for 5 nights over the Dia de Los Muertos celebration and loved it! We were greeted with champagne and when we first got our room overlooking the cemetery and school on the 2nd floor, we asked if we could be moved up higher or to a beach view. The conciere called the front and within minutes we were brought up to the top floor. We were still overlooking the school & cemetery but we were ok with it as the cemetery was beautifully adorned with flowers and candles for the celebration. It was actually quite stunning. Our room was clean and large. Bed was comfy and we used our hot tub on the balcony quite a bit. Ordered bottles of wine and room service was great. Hotel amenities were great. We actually did not spend any time in the pool but all on the beach, which was a quick walk. We loved the location, friendliness of staff. We will be back!

Room Tip: Our corner suite gave us a great perspective of the city & it's charm but ask for beach view...

This was our 2nd stay at PA, having taken our kids to Isla Mujeres Christmas 2010. We were pleasently surprised to find the island celebrating Carnival this trip! We were treated to champagne and fruit with chocolate dipping sauce because of our return stay. Our room was fantastic, we chose suites with large balcony & a hot tub. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly & helpful! We have stayed at other resorts along Riviera Maya, but we love Isla Mujeres by far the most. Privileges Aluxes is where we will be spending our Christmas this year! Our kids are so excited!

We stayed at PA for 8 days and just returned on Feb 23rd. Having visited Placlencia, Belize, Cozumel and Playa de Carmen previously, this is our favorite. Everyone on the island is very friendly and there were no concerns as far as safety. We walked all over the island and liked both beaches on each side. We did the sunset cruise with Liam and enjoyed the people we met and crew. We also did the Contoy Bird Island excusion. The trip there and back was rough but the snorkeling, seeing the birds, island, and enjoying the meal made it well worth it. I had e-mailed the hotel a week before we left, requesting a room overlooking the pool and beach. We were thrilled to have a free upgrade to a suite overlooking both. We did the breakfast only package and were happy to experience the other restaurants. Loved Bally Hoo's, Kristina's and Sardinian Smile. The massages at the hotel were awesome. Very professional, safe, with the little "extra's, and well worth the extra cost as compared to the beach vendor massages. The AGI Transportation package through PA made the arrival and departure so much easier. They totally took care of us from our arrival at the Cancun airport to PA and departing back to the Cancun airport. This saved us considerable time and confusion and enabled us to settle right in.
We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Request the beach and pool view on the 3rd floor or higher.
