Before going we had read the reviews and decided to go with an open mind. This was our first time staying in Cozumel and wouldn't go back. Have stayed in Mexico before and this was just not up to our standards. We had two rooms for 8 nights-requested the same building but they would not accommodate us.The front pool is cleaned where our pool (the back one) had straws, cigarette butts, paper, and all kinds of stuff in it. The entertainment staff is hard to find unless they want to be found. Activities they have planned are not always where they say they will be. We only received turn down service and the next day's activities once-the day we arrived. No one at the front desk had them either. Our room was not always cleaned in a timely manner-some days it was almost 5:30. Our last night the housekeeping staff said she only had one towel, no bathmat, no sink mat, no hand towel but three washcloths for us to use. Seriously? We met a couple who was to have photos taken for their 10th anniversary. The photographer never showed up for them. Luckily, our daughter is a photographer and was able to accommodate them on their special occasion. The saving grace were the Apple reps - they were nice and very helpful. We called the front desk for more hangers (6 is not enough for two people staying 8 days) and never did get them. The folks at the VIP Service desk are just annoying. They kept pressuring us to come and talk to them, which we finally did because we decided the "leisure credit" they were giving us would almost pay for an excursion. They did not want to take no for an answer and became quite snippy. At the end they were very rude to us. The food was decent - the Rendezvous Restaurant was the best. All the wait staff was kind and courteous and some more fun then others. The gals working the pool and beach were also very nice. The sunsets on the beach were beautiful. I wouldn't suggest the Pirate Lobster Dinner Cruise - it's nothing more then a drunken cruise. Waste of time and money and inappropriate for young children. Lobster was cold and butter had solidified before the lobster arrived. Snorkeling from the beach was great-better then some of the excursions we paid for. We had ants all over the sink and toilet in the bathroom-extremely annoying. I'd go back to Playa del Carmen or Riviera Maya or take a cruise before returning to Secrets Aura. If you go, avoid the folks in the airport. They want to sell you time shares and excursions. Know who you are meeting and walk all the way out of the airport.
