My Wife and I just returned after 10 days at Secrets, and had an exceptional time. I've never done an all inclusive before, but was pleasantly surprised. Upon arriving there, we were greeted enthusiastically, offered hot towels and drinks. We opted to get the solarium suite which comes with access to the preferred areas and VIP concierge. Additionally, the honeymoon package came complimentary with the suite. The room itself was very spacious with a large balcony and the rooftop private pool. The ocean views were amazing! Much to our surprise, for our last 5 days there, they upgraded us to an even larger suite with a larger pool/solarium(customer service there was impeccable).
I was told to temper my expectations on food at all inclusive resorts, however I was pleasantly surprised. The main restaurants that were open everyday (Windows/Oceana) were decent. Not a 5 star meal by any means, but good food. Additionally, with access to the sister resort Sunscape, we also tried the italian restaurant (Portofino) with a similar opinion. However, Bordeaux at Secrets & El Patio at Sunscape were amazing! My only gripe is that these restaurants are not open every day during the non-tourism seasons.
What's not to love about all inclusive when it comes to booze. The mornings/early afternoons we laid around the beachside pool or the beach itself. There were plenty of loungers available, so no problem with being crowded. The service again was great here. The pool with the swim up bar is what i'd call the party pool. Usually by 3-4pm everyone was around here drinking, using the water slides or playing volleyball or ping pong. This is where we ended up meeting new friends, and is definitely the place to be if you're more social. But be prepared to sometimes deal with drunk people, although that guy was typically me :) Additionally, with preferred access, you have a private club with a pool table, tv and private bar. At night, they had a rooftop bar called Skybar. It's equipped with a full bar and a couple hot tubs.
In terms of activities, we were rarely bored. Unfortunately, the weather for the first few days we were there was rainy, but we managed to keep busy. We did a spa day where we had a couples massage, as well as hot tub/sauna. As someone who really doesn't like massages, I have to say I might have to start getting them. I don't have much to compare it too, but it was one of the most relaxing times I've had. I'm sure that if you regularly get massages you may be a bit critical, but if you're like me, you'll thoroughly enjoy it. Also, they have a few activity directors working together to make sure people have things to do. Typically they organize games such as beach/pool volleyball, darts, ping pong, as well as evening shows. Julio, Jordan & Lorena are the 3 and they were constantly getting things going as well as getting involved themselves.
Overall we were extremely pleased with the resort and even more so with the staff. If you're planning a trip to cozumel, I would definitely recommend it.
