Owner description: Our shore snorkel, resort & certified diving and catamaran snorkel trip are some of the examples of experiences you can live while you are visiting us. Or if you feel like relaxing, enjoy a massage in our lounge area by the pool, where under palm trees you will feel the breeze of the Caribbean Ocean. If you feel like shopping you can browse in our store of typical Mexican crafts. Our specialties restaurant and our bar will complement and excellent day of sun, sea and sand. But above all, let us transmit the pride of serving you in our beach, located in a privileged area of Cozumel, by the marine park of Chankanaab.

We had read another thorough review of the great snorkeling and terrific food. It can't be beat for $12 pp for a whole day of sun, fun, and relaxation. They offer pkgs. for whatever you like. All inclusives to pay as you go. You decide what works for you. The entry into the ocean is a bit tricky but the owners have tried to give you some sandbags to walk out past the rocks. Colorful fish just swim all around you.

We visited Playa Uvas as part of a shore excursion on a recent cruise. Included in the package was snorkeling, clear kayaks and time on the beach, plus a free cocktail and a wonderful fruit plate. The free cocktail was impressive because we weren't limited to the typical rum punch and I had a wonderful margarita. Our host during the day was Luis who personally took us snorkeling and kayaking. Luis provided a great deal of local insights during our time together and really made us feel welcome. We also had lunch (not included) which consisted of nachos and fajitas. They were wonderful and very tasty. Overall, great day and an excursion that I would highly recommend.

Excellent snorkeling, good food and drinks with average prices. This beach club is smaller so it is less crowded, so thats a plus. All the employees were very nice and accommodating.

We were recommended this place by one of the taxi drivers near port where our Carnival Sunshine ship was docked. It was $11 each way in taxi (short quick ride). It cost $12 to get in which included snorkeling (with all equipment included) and also 1 drink. The beach was nice. It is a bit rocky when you get in the water but they have large sand bags to walk on which makes it easier to enter water. The snorkeling was very good. They even have a photographer to take pictures of you and you can buy CD if you want. No high pressure sales. All the staff was very friendly. They so sell souvenirs here, but they do not hound you to buy like other areas of Cozumel. All in all, this was a great experience. No point of spending big bucks that the cruise ships charge for 3 hours or so. Go here and stay as little or as long as you want.

We have now been guests at UVAS for 3 visits. Because our past visits were such fun
we returned for a third time. This visit however had a number of concerns....
and that is the primary reason for my note. We purchased the All Inclusive for $60 each.

Upon arrival... the hostess had NO idea that we were coming. It was obvious by
her comments that she had no idea who did or did not have a reservation. In past years... we
were welcomed... the hostess knew who to expect... and had a listing of reservations...
If I did not have my confirmation letter with me... I do not know what would have happened...
Very poor advanced preparation for our visit...

We were told by you...that one of the reasons for increased costs... was a more
complete meal. This DID NOT happen.
We were told to order off of the "Beach Break Menu"... that is all they had ... There were no other choices... No soup or salad or greater options...

We were pleased with the meals. The fajtahs were great... and my wife had the fish filet...
that too was great...

3rd
Snorkel tour... was great... Reyes was our guide... and gave wonderful attention to the group... He took time... and concern with the group. Our group was small... about 10-12... a good size. We had a great time.

4th
Wait and Bar Service... We were told that we had a 4 hour open bar... This was not clear prior to our arrival... had never been mentioned in the materials... not on your web site... We are not "big big drinkers"... but this was a surprise.

There were many guests there on our visit day... and not enough staffing... Our waiter seemed busy with many tasks and did not have the attention to our table... as in the past. As the afternoon hours came... the "wait time" .... for a drink was excessive. It seemed to take up to 20 minutes to bring a glass of beer to the table... this is significant...if
you only have 4 hours... Either allow customers to go to the bar... or get more staff.

All in all... we had a good time... but not the product... or the service... we had expected- for the cost.
This visit did NOT live up to past expectations. On a future visit to Cozumel... we will consider other options. We have heartily recommended UVAS as a great day of fun in Cozumel... we will be much less enthusiastic in the future.

I am not clear as to the reason for this situation... but is is obvious that new management has
made decisions that were not to our liking.
