“Love this spot”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

Always go here with my grandchildren as the water is very shallow and safe. During the week is never too crowded but a favourite spot for locals and their families on the weekends.

“Peaceful Beach”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

When we cruise to Cozumel, this is where we go when we get off the ship. You can hire a cab driver. We were lucky to find Roger this time. He took us to our favorite spot and stayed there the whole time while we enjoyed the clean beach and had our favorite BIG FISH.

Chen Rio serves the best whole fried big fish (snapper) of anyone in the caribbean. It comes with fresh pico de gallo, avocados, rice, onions, peppers, cucumbers, and corn tortillas. It is big enough to feed four people. They have palapas, tables and chairs right on the beach.

This day, the weather was on our side. The little inlet was calm and there were hardly any people there. They have roped off the areas that can be dangerous so that you cannot get to them. It is a good place to snorkel. There was not seaweed this time of the year either, just beautiful white sand.

Roger gave us his card which has an email address johnsoncozumel@hotmail.com. He is a really nice man with a clean, well kept air conditioned cab. He is reasonable to hire too. I am putting this in here so I will remember to get in touch with him next time we are there.

The waves on the East SIde can be choppy. This place has a pool as well as an ocean view. The food is great.

“Review of beach only, not restaurant”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

The beach was smelly and the water was full of seaweed that had been ground up/churned up by waves. The "calm pools" were in our opinion smelly, stagnant pools. We did not see any rip tides when we were there, but we left quickly to head further south to Playa San Martin and its rolling waves and wide, sandy, rock-free beach. People seem to like the restaurant at Chen Rio. It was quite crowded with cruise ship Jeep tour folk. We didn't care for the smell of the stagnant water, though, so we left without eating anything.

“best beach/water opportunity”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

this was by far one of the hi-lites of our cozumel excursion....it was a small area that is sheltered by a natural wall of coral rock. there are children and locals as well as tourists all mingling together, finding their own section to sit or wade in. the water was quite shallow in some areas but then about 5-7ft deep in others. wonderfully turquoise and bath temperature.was so very relaxing.
