Great way to experience island beaches, especially if your island time is limited to a day as ours was, since we were in port only until late afternoon. Seaside beach dining along the way was a treat, as was swimming and exploring there after lunch. But lots of sharp rocks when entering the water at a different beach where we snorkeled, so be careful, even if sandbags in place as they are slippery. It was nice to have a choice of automatic or manual transmission vehicle since some of us were nervous about the method of making the manual vehicles change gears as it was quite different from those in the U.S. And, even though a couple of vehicles, toward the end of the day, started acting up, the guides were on the ball when it came to resolving the problem and we all returned to our ship on time.

My original excursion had been cancelled, and so we booked this excursion last minute once we were on the ship. Our group consisted of two couples ages 24-30. This trip was a blast! We all agreed that driving our own beach buggy took it to another level. So much better than riding on a packed bus. It rained during our excursion, but I feel that it made it much more fun! We were blasting through the white sand mud and were covered in it head-to-toe, but no worries, cuz it all washed off while we snorkeled. I had snorkeled many many times throughout the Caribean, and I've never had tour guides be so interactive in the water with us. They are dive masters so they knew how to spot beautiful hidden marine life, that you cannot see with the naked eye. The guide gently grabbed a stiped eel for us to see underwater, and they found a lobster too! He also pointed out a flounder fish, which hides in the sand, so I don't know how he did it, but I got some incredible up close views of the marine life.

You have the option of climbing the stairs to the top of the lighthouse, and the climb wasn't as strenuous as I thought it would be. The view at the top of the light house was to die for.
The entire excursion was inside an ecological park, about 30 min away from the ship port, so the drive through the park was breath taking! Literally our jaws dropped when we saw the spectacular coastline we were driving by. Punta Sur is without a doubt, one of the most breathtaking places I have ever seen, even in the rain! And I've been to 7 of the most beautiful countries in the world including Switzerland and St. Lucia.

The tour guides were the most fun guides we have ever toured with. I have to admit, my expectatiobs were not all that high since I was so frustrated that our orher excursion had cancelled on us, but I believe this adventure was much better than our original option could've ever been. It was a perfect way to get a taste of Cozumel. You get a taste of: Mayan ruins, alligators, beach, authentic food, lighthouse, exilerating buggy ride, scenic views, snorkeling, and after wards you have time to shop at the cruise ship port. The port has a plethora of shops to choose from. Everything was Post Card perfect! Thank you to Monty and Danny for making our visit to Cozumel unforgettable!

We visted 3 islands on a Carnival cruise last week. The best excursion was the dune buggy/snorkel at Punta Sur. if you want a fun day, exposed to many parts of this excursion from a little Mayan history, seeing crocs , eating a great lunch on the beach, exploring the waters with lots of sea life to running the highway in your buggy...this is the one to choose. The guides were great! Well worth it!

We booked a "Beach Buggy and Snorkeling" tour thru Carnival Cruise Lines. This is what you need to do people! We had so much fun. Now there were 2 Buggies that broke down but when that happened one of the 3 guides with us gave that group their buggy - so it's all good! We drove the buggy around the island to Punta Sur and snorkeled there. It was beautiful! Thank heavens for one of our guides who took my daughter under his wing and pulled her around on the boogies board so she could see (she panicked). That saved our trip because my hubby and I actually got to snorkel ourselves. We then saw a Myan ruin that doubled as a warning system in the evet of storms - very cool. We also stopped at an Eco Park and saw Crocodiles and a Lighthouse. This park is where we also ate lunch on the beautiful beach. It was a buffet and the food was good!
