Nothing negative to say about the Ventanas. Location and service are first rate. Laugh at the cruisers during breakfast as they come by on the beach. Breakfast was awesome. Coco takes good care of you, buy him a beer for me. Very close to Chen Rio, which has an excellent swimming lagoon. During calm waters, the snorkeling in front of the hotel is very nice. We stayed for a week, for four days we were the only couple there, or felt like. Close to Sr. Iguana's, get the fish fajitas from Oscar, the best food on Cozumel. Make sure and keep your room key, the cops will pull you over on the highway at night. Let them know you are staying at the hotel and you will be on your way. They will pull you over at night, we were pulled three times, not a big deal just be aware. Cocunuts is kind of expensive but fun. No microwaves so plan for food in town after breakfast., try the Del Sur or Rockn Noodle Bar; both excellent and very hospitable. Best vacation ever. I recommend a minimum stay of 7 days.

The moment I opened the patio door, the view took my breath away. My husband and I were in awe of the beauty that was before us. The crashing of the turquoise water against the rocks below our room lulled us to sleep each night. The service was impeccable; the breakfast substantial and delicious; and I can't say enough about Lis and Coco for the service they provided. The maid kept our room immaculate. Everyone in this exceptional boutique hotel gets a view of the ocean. The beach surrounding the hotel is wide, long, and sandy. You're completely alone on this wonderful expanse of beachfront. No other hotels are on this side of the island, and this is what really drew us to this location. Coconuts is right next door, and there the food is great and margaritas fantastic. Chen Rio beach just a short walk down from here has pleasant, safe swimming and a great beach bar with scrumptious food. I would not hesitate to stay here again. My husband and I actually had tears in our eyes on the day we left. It was really hard to say our goodbyes to everyone. A vacation to remember always.

The descriptions in the other reviews pretty much cover the details, so I won't repeat. You do need to rent a car or scooter to enjoy your stay here on the east side of the island. Staff is very friendly - talking with them is great practice for your Spanish. Room was spotlessly clean every day and the breakfasts were wonderful. The view and breeze from the sea can't be beat. We had a refrigerator and microwave in our room, as well as some dishes. There was a charcoal grill outside and we bought groceries and charcoal and prepared dinner out there a couple of evenings. This hotel is not real fancy, but all needs are more than met. It's a nice change from the all-inclusive resorts we have stayed at. The beaches are endless and it's easy to drive and find a private spot. The road is closed at night to protect the nesting sea turtles so there is no traffic at all. We will be returning!

This was a great hotel for ocean lovers who want to feel secluded. The hotel is right off of the ocean and you can hear the crash of your waves. My reaction was that I couldn't stop smiling, I loved it here. :) The rooms were large and clean and we enjoyed our balcony. The staff was friendly but some members spoke limited English. We rented a car and found that to be the way to go - it was actually very cheap and that way we were able to leave the hotel to visit other places on the east side of the island.

We were intrigued by the hotel making its own electricity (it's only on for part of the day) and shipping in water, as well as being the only hotel on that part of the island due to the roads closing at night. Some people may find those things an inconvenience, but we looked at the quirks as a fun adventure. Low water pressure, so what? No air conditioning - open your balcony doors and feel the breeze from the ocean. No tv - great, we'll talk to each other, play in the ocean, and read. It was nice to relax and enjoy our time. A place like this in the U.S. would be much more expensive.

Breakfast is good and ordered off of a menu.
Word of advice - they say they have refrigerators available for your use, but they really mean coolers - buy some bags of ice from town. We also brought beverages, some snacks and the makings for sandwiches for lunch.

My husband and I and wanted two different experiences in Cozumel so we chose Baldwin's B&B for the first half of our trip and Ventanas al Mar for the second half. We loved both! (See review on Baldwin's Guest House.)

This place is remote. The view is nothing less than outstanding! The staff is delightful and accommodating. Having said that. Remote, there isn't much for lights and the cops will stop you along the road heading back after dark should you have been in town. I can only assess that they are checking up on the drug trafficking. So I guess it is all on how you view it, safe or not. The rooms are super clean, no tv, or phones...pool. This is strictly about being in the now, enjoying the surroundings. The breakfast is great! You are catered to with smiles and an outdoor patio that is clean and situated on the backside of the hotel. The rooms open up to a rocky cliff where you hear the ocean waves crash all evening. We felt like the place was ours alone. The next door restaurant stays lively until closing at around sundown. I would highly recommend this place if you want to be away from it ALL. The staff is great and the price is right.

We were on a cruise in July 08,and Cozumel was one of the ports of call.
My wife and I rented a scooter and rode around the island.Once we were out of San Miguel and seen the beautiful coastline,we knew that this place was special.
The unspoiled beaches were breathtaking!!We stopped at Ventanas ,and took a picture of the sign(to look up later on the internet)as this looked liked the perfect place to vacation.
When we returned from our cruise vacation,we booked a week at Ventanas in Sept.
We arrived on our rental scooter as it was getting dark and Coco the resident caretaker was there to greet us(all in Spanish, but we were able to communicate!!!)The rooms are spacious, very clean, and the view is the icing on the cake...right on the ocean.
Open the sliding doors and instant sea breeze through your room!!Who needs AC??
Breakfast in the morning is perfect, fresh cut fruit(bananas, watermelon, cantaloupe)granola, yogurt, orange juice, eggs cooked to order.
Just the thing to jump start your day of relaxation!!
The beach is natural, unspoiled and beautiful. It is hard to walk on, as you sink ankle deep in the soft sand,it takes a bit to get used to,good workout ,though!!
We were fortunate enough to be there during Turtle nesting/hatching season. At night,we would walk the beach and see the giant sea Turtles come ashore and dig a nest to lay their eggs, how awesome is that??We seen 5 in one night ,in the span of an hour.
We plan on returning this year(at least twice).
If you want unspoiled beaches, clean, quiet, rooms, and seclusion, this is the place!!

Another guest, who was actually a local, said it best, "it's the place to get away from the busy west side." My wife and I absolutely loved staying at Ventanas al Mar. Being the only hotel on the east side of the island, you will enjoy the most peaceful and relaxing experience in Cozumel.

Our room was pristine and a lot bigger than expected. Every morning we woke up early to watch the sun rise over the sea. The hotel is situated atop a small cliff that overlooks the water. The only sounds to be heard are the waves hitting the rocks below.

The breakfast, which was included, was made to order and nutritious. Brush up on your Spanish, since the staff only speaks a little English.

We decided to stay at Ventanas because of its uniqueness and proximity to the beaches of the south east side of Cozumel. These beaches are very different from the calm reefs of the west side. Miles of sandy beaches with strong waves stretch along the coast from Ventanas to nearly the southern tip. Since we're not certified divers, this was the best part of our Cozumel vacation.

A couple of things to note. First, since the east side does not have electricity the beach side restaurants close around 6pm. Second, a rental car or scooter is a must for driving down the coast to find that perfect spot on the beach.
