“LOVED our catamaran trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

Took this tour from the NCL Dawn. It was a wonderful excursion. Lots of fun. Staff was really great. Private beach was relaxing. Teens loved the inflatables at the private beach. The music, dancing and drinks were perfect. Would do it again in a heart beat!!

“Fury's Dead Reef”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

As a snorkeling activity, I do not recommend the Fury Catamaran excursion. As of December of 2013, this reef is dead. It obviously has been over-used. Assuming the seas are calm, you might catch a glimpse of 3-5 species of fish. If the sea is not calm, unless you are an experienced snorkeler, you will just bob at the surface among 35 other people and hope that you don't run into someone else's fins. And in choppy water, good luck getting out of the boat if you are not in good shape. I will say though that the second half of the excursion is fun as there are lots of fun water activities. But it only last about 45-55 minutes, so just when you get settled in, it's time to go. And because drinks are free, the line is long and the rum is cheap, so it's really not the beer fest they describe. The crew is very nice, and fun, but they really focus more on tips and schmoozing than safety.

“Fun, Snorkel good for beginners/kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

We went during out during a port on the Disney Wonder Cruise 12/5/13. It was just me and my son (age 5) so it was good for the money $39 per person, The snorkeling was good for a beginner or kids. The best part was the ride on the catamaran, the kids were having tons of fun dancing and enjoying the sun. Served beer, margaritas and soda for free, and the crew kept them coming.. Happy Momma! The water area with the jumpers and slides where alittle hard for my son to get on but we managed. Overall it was a great afternoon!!

“Snorkeling poor - beach OK”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

Disney Wonder excursion - 12/23/13
Summary:
* Do not go on this tour if you love to snorkel.
* Beach area is very nice. This is mostly a beach tour vs. a snorkel.
* 20 minute catamaran ride to snorkel. Crew offered soft drinks & water on the way to the snorkel spot. NOTE: The water was not bottled, it came from the ship's tap. The pop came from 2-liter bottles. The catamaran was nice, two deck boat with plenty of room for the passengers. Crew competent at operating the boat.
* 30 minute snorkel. Snorkel area was NOT very good. I am an experienced snorkeler and SCUBA diver, and the area was very sparse with few fish and features. The crew offered instructions to new people, otherwise, just let people jump in the water and swim around. There were two crew members in the water; however, they did not guide the group to any interesting features, make suggestions or help. Overall, I found the snorkeling to be the lowlight of the trip.
** NOTE: Snorkel equipment is not up to par. I found it older. My daughter, also an experienced snorkeler, had problems with her mask fitting.
* 20 minute catamaran ride from snorkel area to the beach.
* 60 minutes at the beach. The beach was very nice, and private. Set up for us with plenty of lounge chairs. The play equipment in the ocean was good; however, unsafe. Good in the fact that there were two trampolines, a large slide (15' tall), and a big "ball" to hang on. The issue was that on the trampolines, the metal and springs were RUSTED and there was EXPOSED METAL. It would be easy for someone to fall on the exposed metal and get cut. I would not let my daughter play on the metal equipment. There was food offered on the beach; however, it was at an additional fee.
* 40 minute catamaran ride back to the ship. It was a nice, long, smooth ride. They played music in the background and you were allowed to go anywhere on the boat you chose. They served free margaritas and pop. Margaritas were in pre-mixed jugs. During this period, they also sold printed pictures of you/your family ($12/picture, or a pack of 3 pictures of you plus one "general" picture for $36).
* Tips: The crew chief asked for tips multiple times. It got to the point where it turned me off.
