we were six adults and choose the Jeep Adventure Tour. We drove to a snorkeling spot, had a local lunch, went to an alligator swamp, a lighthouse and a bit of beach time. It was a fun day, lunch was good, we did not see many things snorkeling, but overall would recommend. We had young adults who enjoyed driving the jeeps.

This excursion was one of the best we have ever taken. We love to snorkel and wanted to see if we could scuba dive or if we were too claustrophobic to enjoy it. We caught the taxi as instructed and went to the marina. When entering, the gate guard wanted to know where we were headed. Having the boat name at that point was good but we never saw the boat. We were about 45 minutes early so started to walk around trying to find the boat. The dive guide saw us walking with our papers and tracked us down. After a short ride we arrived at a dirt pull out along the road and parked. We were provided some basic training on the equipment, how to clear your regulator and mask etc. and then we went to a small tide pool to practice. Once we felt comfortable, he held our hands and led us out of the tide pool and into the ocean. We then spent about an hour being led on a fantastic tour of the reef. Our instructor knew the area well and where the animals all seemed to hide out. We saw all sorts of beautiful fish, eels, crabs, lobster, rock fish, flounder. Things we would not have seen if we were doing it in our own. The coral was beautiful. We had a fantastic time and have now fallen in love with diving.

My husband, myself and two adult children did this excursion. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were very helpful, it was just the 4 of us out at one time, plus two instructors. We were able to feed fish, hold a small stingray, see a large stingray, hold a sea urchin, sea spider and tour the coral. The only drawback was that it was a little too short. No fault of the excursion, tanks only allowed so much time. I feel we got our money's worth. I would highly recommend this excursion.

We took a snorkel/glass bottom boat ride arranged through Island Marketingt Ltd(CAYMAN)Cozumel Cruise Excursions.
Very unprofessional. Was supposed to start at 10:30. We got underway at 11 and then returned to pick up more passengers so didn't start to the reefs until 11:30. We were back at the pier and done at 1 p.m. for a supposed two and a half hour excursion. When I complained, the snorkel guide was very surly and stated it wasn't his problem. Have requested a partial refund from the company, but not holding my breath!

What we thought we were getting:
A private tour guide who would meet us at the ferry terminal in Playa del Carmen and either drive or accompany us to Tulum, give us some local color on the way, and guide us around Tulum.
What we got:
A guy who spoke zero English who drove us the 45 min's to Tulum in silence, then turned us over to an indifferent guide who gave us a perfunctory tour of the ruins. The CCE guy in Tulum tried to talk us into combining our group with another group of 9 people, which is exactly what we wanted to avoid by choosing a private guide.

Plus side: the restaurant he suggested for lunch after the tour was one of the best meals we had the whole week.
Summary: You could easily arrange this on your own. Save yourself the extra $.
