our family of 8 decided to visit the Dolphinarium while visiting Cozumel via cruise ship. Our ages ranged in age from 6 to 71 and everyone agreed it was awesome, The younger ones especially loved the sea Lion Show and the best, of course, to the was kissing a dolphin! The six year old said, and I quote: "we'll, I can cross this off my bucket list now"! Too funny. There are lockers available and the beaches are lovely. Also, a wonderful pool with swim up bar is ole. to all. Restaurants are clean and offer typical Mexican fare.

On our visit to Chankanab Park we decided to tried the temazcal EXperience, I’ve had personally done it a couple of years ago in Chapala and it was a great experience that I wanted to repeat.

Once we were in the park we walk away of the dolphinarium and the sea to get into the jungle, we did a first stop on a cabin where a Maya lady offered us a just made tortilla and it was awesome. When we arrived to the temazcal area we were very excited. Last time I had a temazcal I remember my skin was so smooth and I felt relief after sweating so much. Daniel gave us the welcome and explained to some of us what the temazcal is about. Then we all formed a circle around the fire where some volcanic stones were heating up. Daniel “cleaned us” with copal and we say some gratitude sentences gazing each of the cardinal points.

With just swimsuit I left my sandals at the entrance, said the word “Ometeo” and got into the temazcal, this is like an igloo made of bricks, different to other temazcales I’ve been the floor was made of cement that I found later they did it this way so they can clean it properly after every session, which is very nice. Our EXperience was so nice. Daniel was talking to us and took me to a journey during the time I was there. The feeling of sweating gives relief and I even felt, again, a strong connection with the nature that helped me as a human in different ways but the most important is to release things I was carrying on my mind. Daniel was all the time checking If everybody was ok and the heat was not very strong as I remembered on my first temazcal.

After something about 45-60 minutes on the temazcal, sweating toxins and releasing mental issues and feelings we went out of the temazcal. I was the first of the group to arrive to the well where Daniel pull out a bucket filled with fresh natural water and poured on my head, OH GOOOOD!! Was so refreshing, shocked and brought me back to the present, I knew that the water at the end also helps to close the skin pores after the heat.

This is an amazing and highly recommended EXperience, I just remember that in our group was an old man making jokes and laughing so loud that broke my concentration sometimes and I asked to the rest of my friends and they felt the same.

After the temazcal we walked the rest of the jungle path at the park and went to relax by the beach.

Make sure you go to the toilet before as there are not bathrooms very close. Take a towel with you and enjoy the EXperience and the connection with the four elements and the nature on a temazcal.
