“Great experience with Alfredo”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

We are staying at the Reef Residencias and had seen Gusto,s about 5 km out of San Miguel on the South road. It was never all that busy and we thought we would try it out. We were greeted by a very friendly staff and the owner Alfredo took time to speak with us. He explained the décor of his beautiful restaurant, and recommended the dinner choices. My wife is a very picky eater so she had a fillet mignon that was very good for steak in Mexico. I had seafood Veracruz and it was delicious.I don`t know why this place isn`t busier because for the price and the food it was one of the better places we tried. We are definitely going back.
It is worth the drive from town. or the south side resorts.

“New eats”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

This nice new restaurant is 'south' of town in Cozumel on the main road. While not air conditioned it is open and airy but for some might be too hot. It is a good choice is staying outside of town and you dont want the touristy busy- ness. We all had different dishes which we all enjoyed. The seafood platter is for two with lobster, shrimp and white fish was enough to fill us and everything was cooked to perfection. Owners were friend and even let us try the bongos on the 'stage'.There is live music some nights of the week - we missed this though. Reasonably priced and enjoyable.

“A nice south of town restaurant option”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

This relatively new (opened Sept 2012) restaurant located just south of km marker 7, makes it a short taxi ride from the international pier. As can be seen by the photos, the interior is quite nice. We were staying in a nearby condo, so chose take-out a few times. Their lobster bisque (80 pesos/$6.40) was flavourful though I don't understand why there were pieces of imitation crab in the soup. The mixed plate (200pesos/$16.00) was enjoyable and enough for two people. The ribs and accompanying dipping sauce were good, the wings and chilli lime dipping sauce were excellent, as were the manchego cheese quesadillas. The mixed plate also includes sides of guacamole, picco de gallo, and French fries, though rice can be substituted for the fries. Their homemade key lime pie (40 pesos/$3.20) was a surprise treat, though the crust was a little overcooked. If you are having the pie as take out, keep it refrigerated until ready to serve, otherwise it will melt. They offer a $35 steak and lobster full dinner on Thursday and Friday nights with a live mariachi band.

“Try Gustos For a Special Evening!”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Gustos is a brand new restaurant just south of town. The drive is lovely and certainly worth the effort. It's location next to the main road is a little discerting at first but the noise is soon muffled by the fountains and once you are inside, you pretty forget it. The decor is dramatic and welcoming with dark red walls highlighted by brilliant white archways and high, graceful ceilings. The staff is professional and genuinely eager to make your evening a true Mexican dining experience. We started wtih drinks - what my BFF tells me is the finest Bloody Mary he's ever had (and the bartender will gladly share his secrets with you) and I had a very nice cab. Our salads arrived next. We had chosen the Caesar Salad and we were delighted wtih it. The dressing was handcrafted - light and perfectly seasoned with fresh, homemade croutons. Our main entree was fresh lobster, delicately grilled with butter and garlic on a bed of perfectly seasoned rice and shredded lettuce and served with fresh, steamed vegetables, potatoe puree and fresh French bread with warm olive oil and garlic. The mariachi band was the finest we have ever heard. The violinist was exceptional but all three sang with a passion and artistry that blew us away. It was like our very own personal concert. Even the owner, Gustavo, joined in the singing with a wonderful voice that filled the room with Mexican magic. After Key Lime pie, we bid them a relunctant farewell - our plane departs the next day- and we drove back to our condo under a full moon singing with the windows down. An unforgettable evening that will live in our hearts! Try Gustos - and don't be afraid to open your heart!

“Gustos condos stay clear”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Hi.. got roped into a quasi "time share" condo review at Gustos.
we were promised a car discount to go through their One hour presentation.. by 45 minutes I had had it, and said I was not interested (not impressed with location or the condo) they put us back into town but would not give us the car discount..

this place looks to me like a scam.. probably going to join the many more never completed projects that you find scatered areound cosumel.. BTW, this is our eigth visit here, so we have seen this before
