We just returned back from a cruise on the Carnival Inspiration. I had seen Money Bar on this website so we decided to give it a try..........boy, am I glad we did!!! Family of 4 taxi trip was $8 (US) from the International pier. We took our own mask/snorkel and rented fins there for $5/pp, locker for rent with lock $2..........snorkeling was great. Go to the right towards the yellow buoys and you can't believe all the fish. There were several ship excursions that I am sure the people paid $50 and up that stopped by for a snorkel. We also had lunch there that was really good too! I would highly recommend this as a "do it yourself excursion."

We were at the Money Bar (used to be Dzul Ha) on two different days in late April 2009. We went for snorkeling the first day, and were at first unimpressed with the snorkeling right off the shore of the restaurant. Wound up staying for dinner and thought the food and service were great, and we were pleasantly surprised with the happy hour drink deals (5-7 PM). Great sunset view for dinner too!. Good (for out taste) background music from Sinatra to Commodores to Van Morrison. There are several tables on outside deck areas which (weather permitting) will get you farther away from speakers or smoke if need be.

That evening I had noticed a couple take off snorkeling to the north along a string of buoys parallel to the shore, but a bit late in the day for good light. We went back two days later in better light and followed what turned out to be an "underwater interpretive trail" with REALLY GREAT snorkeling compared to what we'd seen anywhere else just offshore. Nice coral formations, schools of fish, lots of sea fans and other vegetation.
It's close enough to shore to be comfortable for most beginners I would think, other than small children. Although pay attention to the fact that that entry and exit are restricted to the south and north ends of the "trail", as the area is designated as a protected zone, so that might be a caution for weak swimmer or small children who might tire quickly. Water depth ranged from waist-high to perhaps 20 feet at most, with really no place to stand up and rest on sandy bottom along the way. Be careful as always when in close to the shore rocks. I did see LOTS of small sea urchins in close to the shore, so be really careful of that. It was the best snorkeling on our trip except for the reef off the South Point of the island, which was a WAY more challenging swim out and back from shore.

We wound up staying for dinner again that night. Marcos, our waiter from the previous night, recognized us and gave us great service again. Over the two nights we had onion rings, nachos, guacamole salad, hamburgesas and fries, beef and chicken fajitas,
lightly breaded grilled snapper, chocolate and coconut ice creams, and lots of margs.
All were very good! We did not object to the roughly 10 percent gratuity added to the bill for our three and foursomes, and made sure to add some in to bring the tips up to 20 percent anyway.

My husband I traveled via Carnival Legend to the Money Bar in April 2009. We took a short taxi ride from port to the Money bar. We ordered lunch and drinks while soaking in the beautiful blue water. We ordered chips and salsa and a club sandwich that was massive! It was not very crowded the day we visited and the facilities including the bathrooms were very clean, I indulged in a massage on the beach for $30 and received 45 minutes plus of full relaxation, it was amazing! They had snorkel equipment and other items for rent for a reasonable price. The Money Bar is a great place to relax without crowds of tourists and great service!

The Money Bar was just a short walk from our hotel and looked promising.

We went there for dinner and immediately knew we were going to be underwhelmed. All American fare on the menu with a few Mexican dishes thrown in for good measure.
The food was blah and the service was so so.
They also included a paltry gratuity on the check for a party of 2 which we found as a put off.

After spending a day driving around Cozumel, we decided to stop in at the Money Bar. We ordered drinks and were pleasantly surprised to find out they have happy hour from 5 to 7pm every day (2-for-1 drinks). The menu looked pretty good so we ordered dinner. My husband had the Red Snapper and said it's the best he ever had. I had Fettucini Alfredo with Shrimp and it was phenomenal. So good, that we decided to go back the next night and split a lobster tail grilled in garlic butter - delicious. Great price, too. That was so good, that we went there AGAIN! This time, my husband had a grouper sandwich and I had the fried shrimp. The shrimp were HUGE! And, also quite tasty.
Daniel and Felipe at the bar were great. Very friendly. Really took great care of us. Prices were very reasonable. Alvaro, the manager, was also very nice.
Nice sandy area here with lounge chairs, many people snorkeling. The bathrooms were the largest and cleanest we've ever seen in Cozumel.
