The Amaranto is a great place to stay if you want to truly experience Cozumel rather than the isolated beach-side resorts. The place has an authentic yet very unique ambiance, with thatched-roof bungalow style bedrooms fully equipped with kitchenette (sink/bar), refrigerator, and a full bathroom. Just after the entrance of the Amaranto you'll find a beautifully decorated common room and dining area where a delicious mexican breakfast is prepared for each person individually by a lovely local cook every morning. Jorge, the owner is extremely accommodating and knowledgeable of the island as well as the mainland, should you take a trip down the yucatan to see the ruins or pristine beaches of the Xiansang. The Amaranto is in a great location, especially for anyone wishing to rent a scooter to putt around the island. We certainly would return the next time we visit Cozumel!

My husband and I stayed at Amaranto for 10 days during Christmas holidays. We had a fantastic time on the island diving, snorkeling, exploring the beautiful beaches, meeting the locals - and staying at lovely Amaranto. This B&B is a unique place with a wonderful charm, comfortable rooms and above all - a great owner Jorge who became a real friend of ours. Listen to his recommendations and you will have a great time on the island like we did. For someone who likes to be off the beaten path, this is the place to be. Get a room at Amaranto, pack your swim suit and couple of ear plugs (it can get a little noisy in the neighbourhood), rent a scooter and have the time of your life!

I met Jorge en un avion from Guadalajara to Cancun. He is a person so expecial that i decided to spend some days in his b&b in cozumel.
I can resume that in Amaranto you live like a friend.
In wonderful and clean room, in the certer of the town ad near to the blue see of Cozumel.
The island is quiete, beautifull, where you can snorkeling, explore the real mexico, dance in the gazebo Salsa y Bolero and go with a motorbicicle in the desert beach of the carribean see......
I find in this B&B the sincere hospitality that only a Mexican can offer to you.....
Thank you Jorge!! Daniele (Italiy)

We stayed for two nights around 20 November at the Amaranto and had a great time. We arrived very early in the morning but despite this we were treated to a lovely breakfast which the lady who welcomed us had to buy from the shops especially for us before we rushed off diving.

The thatched room we stayed in was lovely and spotlesssly clean. We also had great fun with Eduardo who was really nice and gave us loads of really interesting information about the Myans and where to visit during the rest of our trip.

I´d highly recommend the Amaranto and many thanks to Eduardo and his team!

We stayed at Amaranto for about 10 nights in total this summer and we will most definitely be back here. Close to downtown, close to the piers for diving, spacious and clean rooms, different breakfast almost every morning and a nice little pool to puddle or read. The dog (mokosh) is lovely and Jorge is very kind. The whole B&B is personally designed by him and in every corner you will see nice details. I do not think that for this money you can find a better place to stay. I have read through the rest of the reviews and other than the terrible ones, agree with most of all. I do not think the guys from the terrible reviews have actually been here. Of course you can find negative points, but with Amaranto definitely to this degree. We will be back.....

Amaranto is the best place to spend your holliday in Cozumel : very confortable, clean and large rooms or suite (with a unique bathroom for everyone), micro-wave oven, fridge and coffee machine, beautiful lobby to chill out, great and unique architecture, delicious breakfasts (thoughtfully prepared by Manuela, the charming and highly efficient cleaning lady) and a nice swimming pool to relax before or after diving or snorkeling !
But Amaranto would'nt be so unique without Jorge (the owner) who speaks fluently french, english and - of course ! - spanish, is always ready to help you for any kind of question or need and make you feel like you're at home. We spent over 3 weeks with him at Amaranto and, when we left, it was like leaving our best friend !
