My family of 3 adults and 2 children (both age 11) did the Royal Swim on Christmas Day 2013. Our experience was FANTASTIC and our most memorable activity from our cruise. Because our cruise line did not offer the Royal Swim as an excursion (they only offered the Dolphin Encounter) I booked directly with Dolphin Discovery to get the experience we wanted and also saved about $220 even with booking a higher level of encounter. It cost us about $72 per person. It was just our family of 5 with two Dolphins. The other encounters around us that were from various cruise ship groups had 12-15 participants. Our trainer and the dolphins were a joy to interact with. Each of our expectations for the experience were surpassed. I was aware of the no personal camera policy and the cost of the pictures they offer for purchase. I was prepared to pay ~$200 for a cd of all of our pictures and thus it did not become a detractor from our experience. I got 2 cd copies of our 250 pictures for $219. Having the 2 dolphins push each of us by the bottom of our feet up and out of the water and to glide across the water was amazing. We found the staff at Chankanaab and Dolphin Discovery to be very friendly, customer focused and safety oriented. Even though this excursion was more costly compared to the many other things we did on our cruise, the value we received was far greater. The memories of this experience together with our family will not fade for a long time.
