I have been going to Cozumel at least twice a year since 2005. This has given me great perspective on the local economy, places to stay and best time of year to go. Staying in everything from the most expensive “all-inclusive hotels” to places that make Motel 6 look like The Ritz Carlton. This hotel is on one of the coolest diver oriented/casual tourist places I have stayed. Hotel Villa Las Anclas is professionally ran with the cleanest and unique apartment style rooms that I have stayed at in Cozumel. They primarily cater to divers with an attached pro dive shop that is also professionally ran. These places are American owned and have most of amenities that you would come to expect in the United States. There is plenty of room to stow your dive gear and the rooms get cold enough to chill any Caribbean sunburn. The Villas are located near the center of the city where all your shopping, eating and drinking can be had. Need peace and quiet? The Las Anclas Villas are situated in a place that is quietly secluded but still in the relaxed bustle of San Miguel. It is also conveniently located near the Airport which is about a five dollar cab fare. The staff is headed by a wonderful person name Karla. She is extremely helpful with the do’s and don’ts of the Island. She can direct you to the best places to eat on a budget or something more upscale. She saved me plenty of money by letting me know where the specials were for that particular night. It is in an extremely safe and crime free area. Need to skype loved ones back at home? They offer free internet (free internet is hard to find) .This place cannot be beat for the price and with the pro dive shop next door all your dive worries are gone. The staffs attention to detail is shown through the cleanliness of the Villas. The Villas have a full kitchen, dining and living area. My villa had a hand painted 15 foot mural on the wall. Incredibly detailed art work. There is a beautiful tropical garden type atmosphere walking through the villas. At night special lighting lights up the garden setting the perfect mood for some wine and good times.

If you are looking for an all-inclusive you could still stay there and then rent a cabana at Mr Sancho’s for 50/person for the day. This includes all food and drinks. For the price you will not find a better place to stay on the island. Book in advance because Hotel Villas Las Anclas rents out quickly!

Room Tip: All the rooms are pretty much equal. You cant go wrong with any of them.

We stayed on week last year. We love this lace and will be there again this year. Love the court yard and only walking distance from Wet Wendy's! You can rent a car or see the downtown area, the room was beautiful and very comfortable. The best part is Doug and Karley!!! See you soon!!!

Cozumel, oh Cozumel … we love you. My wife and I spent 2 weeks in this wonderful paradise in January 2013.

We stayed at the quaint Villa Las Ancles just off the main square. The American owners Doug (and his wife) and Jim were both there. Along with Carla their amazing manager/concierge/smile distributer, these guys really know how to make you feel relaxed and at home. The facilities consist of s kitchenette and living room on the main floor with a bedroom/bathroom upstairs. It is CLEAN ! Service each day with fresh towels and sheets as well as your dishes being done. They keep you in complimentary beach towels and there is a nice new grill in the private courtyard. We felt at home away from home … we plan to be back nest year.

Next door and with adjoining lobbies is the best dive shop you could imagine, Los Tres Pelicanos. The owner Steve is also an American and runs an organized and friendly operation. Brand new wetsuits, BC’s, and regulators are available. The boat is a ‘fast type’ so you feel that you are using your time well. The boat is new and laid out well with a wide beam so you don’t feel cramped. The crew is friendly and puts you at ease. Servando, the dive master, is kind, helpful, knowledgeable and professional but he is not “full of himself” as are many DM’s in the area. One of the great things is that you can ‘dive your air’, meaning that you can stay under with a computer and maximize your safe dive times. I dove with the Pelicanos twice and the first dives of the day were each about an hour underneath. We saw turtles, majestic large eagle rays, a green moray eel that swam around out of his cave. 18” sea horses etc, etc.,etc!

The food in Cozumel was outstanding …
Best food on the beach – Buccanos, north of town – popcorn shrimp melted in the mouth.
Best tacos – Mister Taco, east side of town - spit grilled ‘al pastor’ was to die for
Best night out – La Mission near Mister Taco – old Hacienda with great food, 5 star garden setting, and good mariachi singers.
Best lunch – right across the street from the hotel – traditional Mexican food with a green sauce that is out of this world and not too hot for gringos.

I would rent a small car from Hertz for your stay, that way you can explore the beautiful ‘wild side’ of the Island. (the uninhabited west shore) You will find beach hideaways where you can soak up the sun, be mesmerized by the waves and chill with a certain degree of solitude. If you like a long walk on the beach here is where to do it.

We took our foldup tandem bike hoping to find a safe place to ride. Pretty much around the whole island is a new bike path … we were not disappointed.

If you wand glitz, go to Cancun on the mainland. But if you want to experience a bit of the real Mexico and be able to breath…Cozumel is your place!

The villas at Las Anclas were so gorgeous and clean and at a very reasonable price. The staff are lovely and helpful and invited us to join their evening BBQ parties twice during our stay. The villa have a large living room, small kitchen with basic utensils, gorgeous gallery bedroom on the second level and ensuite. IT includes aircon, fresh coffee in the morning and everything you need in the shower including a hairdryer! The location is perfect as it is right in the centre and close to everything. They also own a dive shop which is lovated next door. A few steps from the hotel is a great hair salon where I got a fab cut. Beach towels can be borowed and Karla is great at offerring info and travel advice. Very recommended!

I have just returned from Cozumel with my daughter. And we had the luck to find Villa Las Anclas Hotel where we will surely stay in on our next trip to Cozumel.
A beautiful place, with friendly people, lovely accommodations, clean, clean, and clean again, with all the necessary infra-structure to assure your comfort.
How nice to start the day with a delicious homemade courtesy coffee and the "Buenos Dias" of Doug, Della, Jim and Pam, the owners!! Karla, the manager, is always ready to make sure your day goes smooth.
An excellent place for honeymooners, family and couples. I recommend it to all travellers that look for comfort, unpretentious elegance and a fair rate.

This trip was our third trip back to this hotel and I am shocked to say that it keeps getting better and better!! First, the sad news, Pedro, the beloved owner of this hotel, sold the hotel earlier in 2012. Now, the good news! Doug, Della, Jim and Pam have bought this hotel, keeping the spirit of Pedro's wonderful hospitality alive and well.

Initially, we were hesitant to come back to this hotel knowing it was sold b/c we felt that so much of what we loved about this hotel has now retired. However, when I emailed and found out who bought it, it was a no brainer to come back. You see, we met Doug and Della 4 years ago on our first visit to Las Anclas and really enjoyed their company. We had always hoped that we would bump into them here at Las Anclas again. Doug and Della have been coming to this hotel for the last 12 years on vacation and loved this place so much that they decided to make it home. We had the pleasure of meeting Jim for the first time and he also really embodies the spirit of the place. Doug, Della, Jim and Pam have really kept the tradition of warmth, kindness, family, and hospitality alive, you really feel at home here.

What's the same? Everything you have come to look forward too while visiting this lovely and tranquil place.

What's new? Quite a bit!
1. Karla! Karla is the lovely hotel manager who bends over backwards to make sure you are happy during your stay and always has a smile on her face. She even brought her crib from home for my niece (18 months) while my sister and brother-in-law were staying here.
2. The lobby is now open along with a dive shop, Tres Pelicanos! The best diving operation that we have ever had the pleasure of diving with. What a great place to hang out after a day of diving and chat about your dives and local tidbits. Due to the atmosphere, you easily make friends that can grow into lifelong friendships.
3. A fantastic little coffee station that you can get your morning coffee from, and the coffee is always available early enough before you leave to go diving to wake you up in time to enjoy all the amazing diving.
4. Water stations throughout the courtyard to make sure you stay hydrated.
5. A really nice barbeque grill for you to grill on those days that you feel like having a meal in.

Cons: Can't think of one.

Pros:
1. Walking distance to most of the top restaurants on the island.
2. 2 Blocks away from the main square.
3. Walking distance to Mega (Supermarket/Home goods)
4. Dive shop next door.
5. Clean, spacious rooms.
6. Quiet and secure location.

I feel as though I can't say enough good things about this hotel and I am sure that you will get a sense of what a pleasant place it is to stay by the shear number of great reviews already written about it.

The rooms are a nice loft style two story accomodations with a living room/kitchen on the ground floor and a spiral stair case up to a large sleeping area and bathroom. The kitchen area fetaures a fridge, sink, and microwave. Outside the room there is a small common area with couches tables and beautiful trees/shrubs. The interior and exterior of this smaller quaint hotel is very well maintained and beautiful. The current owners are a couple of recently retired couples from the USA, they are super freindly, very knowldegable of the area, and big into scuba diving. If you're looking to experience Cozumel without the drama and sales pressure of a resort then this is 100% the place for you to stay. It's just a few blocks from where the ferry from the main land drops you and just one block from the main tourist strip along the ocean so expect no issues finding it and no issues getting back into the tourist fray if that is your preference. I just can't say enough positive things about this place and the people that run it.
