Casa Colonial

We just returned from a week at Casa Colonial with a bunch of friends, a trip I had been dreaming about since I first stayed at the villa five years ago. You get a *great* deal for your money, here. Not only are the amenities top-notch (full kitchens and entertainment centers, grills, hammocks, pool, jacuzzi, and garden), but the service can't be beat (WiFi, phone, daily maid service, friendly and helpful staff). Whether you use it as a home-base for exploring Cozumel and the Yucatan or just as a getaway for rest and relaxation you will find you have everything you need, and extra delights as well--like the hummingbirds that feed regularly at the banana trees nearby while you relax in the jacuzzi. Walking distance to downtown Cozumel, and concierge service that is helpful and friendly in arranging special trips for you.

My husband and I needed to complete our Open Water Scuba Diving course and chose to do it in one of the world's best recommended diving locations of Cozumel. We are not fans of the tourist zones and really prefer to be off the beaten path. Casa Colonian was set in a perfect location! Still walking distance from anything, including a full grocery store around the corner and great restaurants and bars.

Communication prior to our arrival was seamless and the resources that were provided to us in preparation to our travel itinerary was wonderful and very friendly.

Our villa was amazing. All the comforts of home and much more. It was such a romatic setting and often we had the pool all to ourselves. Days off from scuba diving was spent pool-side relaxing and enjoying a cerveza... or more.

The people who created this great little jem are absolutely beautiful. Upon arrival we were introduced to some of the local highlights, including where we could find some of the best food in town. They weren't wrong! They also generously introduced us to some of the most trusted people on the island whom they know to take us scuba diving. Our dive friend who joined us the second week of our stay assured us, through his years of diving experience, that we had now been spoiled and would be hard pressed to top this this level of first class treatment. And the cost was no different than the same cattle-herding scuba tour operation.

I can't say enough about Casa Colonian and the wonderful people who run it. In short, it's all the countless little things that they do, as if it were their own home, that makes all the difference. We will definitely return!

Casa Colonial was exactly what we were looking for! The place is perfect for a relaxing little paradise while exploring the beauty of Cozumel. Bob and Sarah are the best hosts we could ever have hope for. We met some great people and walked to dinner, shopping and the super market every day. Sarah had a nice Jeep delivered to our front door for less than $60 and we spent a day driving around the entire island. It was a wonderful experience. We are definately coming back.

We really enjoy our stay at the Casa Colonial. Sarah and Teresa made our stay even more special by their kind and considerate ways. Their concierge service was extraordinary.

The villa was extremely comfortable and met all of our needs. Now being back home, reflecting back on our vacation, we would highly recommend anyone to take this opportunity to be as pleased as we were.

We highly recommend it and if we decide to return to Cozumel, we will definitely consider staying at the Casa Colonial again.

We stayed three nights. Family of five. Nice place off the beaten path in Cozumel. Lodging itself was nice - homey. Lot's of tile, nice big kitchen table, good sized bedrooms with separate bath for each. Also half bath downstairs. Bottled water provided.

The place is surrounded by large adobe wall and a keyed gate opens to a well maintained grassy courtyard, swimming pool, lounge chairs, etc. The pool was nice and private. There were a few turtles in the grass looking for handouts which was entertaining. There were four Villas within the Casa Colonial. Each had patio, hammock and a couple chairs. We met two neigbors and enjoyed their company by the pool. Unexpected surprise was computer with internet connection in a small community room so could check email or stay in touch with home. It is maybe a mile to main plaza which we usually walked. A cab fare for family of five was $4 if we were hot, tired or lazy. No on site manager but number to call if problems and Teresa met us to check in and check out. She encouraged a late check out at no charge since nobody else was scheduled the next day.

Rosie cleaned our unit each morning and she must have been eight months pregnant. She would clean for over an hour scrubbing floors, doing dishes, folding our dirty clothes, arranging our shoes, etc. Second day we told her in Spanish that she just needed to clean the bathroom and bring water. She smiled broadly and went through the whole routine again dispite our protests. By third day we had the dishes done, beds made and shoes in order so Rosie wouldn't have to work so hard. She was very friendly and hard worker.

This would be a good fit for those looking for a little more authentic experience. Villa is in neighborhood, not a tourist area. Small grocery store is just a few blocks away which came in handy. Visited store five or six times and never saw another US visitor. At first a little intimidating - looked like this might not be a good part of town. Teresa and other guests assured us it was safe to walk, even late at night, and very little crime in Cozumel. We found this to be the case. When walking to town would see small one room house with door open and hammock hung at night for sleeping. Also saw kids on bikes and kids accross street playing hop scotch, etc.

Not a good fit if you are looking to be right by the ocean or right in the middle of town. Also not for those looking for full service hotel, etc. Better fit for those who are a little more independent. Appears could fairly easily arrange snorkeling, scuba, sailing from here since close to town.

Spent our last three nights South part of Cozumel in condo near San Francisco Beach. This felt much more like home. We enjoyed this very much also and loved the ocean. We did miss easy access to groceries and rest, bars, shops in town, etc. Nice to have experienced both.

My wife and I have been going to Cozumel for years. We have stayed at Casa Colonial for the last eight (8) years!! We would not be repeat guests if the place was not one of if not the best place to stay on the island. The villas are spotless; the garden is lush and well maintained; the pool and Jacuzzi are great!! Amentities are extension and the maid service is excellent. An added bonus is the concierge service that is provided by Bob and Sarah Rodriguez the owners. Cannot wait to stay there in the future.

Being our first trip to Cozumel, my husband and I did a lot of research about the island and where to stay. We did not want to stay at a large hotel with thousands of other people, so Casa Colonial was a perfect fit. Each villa is beautifully decorated in the colonial style, and the surrounding garden and pool are tranquil. Bob and Sarah's attention to detail does not go unnoticed.

Sarah and Teresa made sure we had everything we needed from the moment they met us at the airport to the time we left. Sarah's recommendations for diving, dining, shopping, and Mayan ruin tours were exceptional.

Situated in the middle of town, we were warmly greeted by the locals as we walked around the block to the market and around the next block to buy warm, freshly-made tortillas-another of Sarah's recommendations.
