We've stayed at this resort so many times, it feels like our Cozumel home. Staff are welcoming, courteous, and helpful. Although the AC wasn't working properly when we first arrived, the issue was resolved within an hour. Warm hospitality shown to us by the restaurant and bar staff. Sofia salad, pepito baguette, and pico are some of our favorites when dining. Juan Carlos, dive shop manager, and Luis, divemaster, provide outstanding services! We pampered ourselves with massages at the outside palapa and they were fantastic.

My wife and I go to Cozumel about once a year if not more. This time was our first time to stay El Cid. It was a pleasant surprise. The claenliness and comfortable beds was only topped by their hospitality. This is our new favorite and we plan to stay here agian.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 2018. It had a great view and an A/C that if turnned down could serve as a walk in cooler. That's perfect for me!

I can't explain to anyone enough how much I love this hotel, their staff, and its dive shop. It has nice rooms and such a laid back atmosphere. The people who work here are always smiling and ready to help is you need something. The two ladies at the front desk, especially Bibiana, are super kind and helpful. Juan Carlos at the dive shop is always helpful and Luis, the dive master,is the best. I would never stay or dive with anyone else!

We became "VIP" members here through Wyndham Vacation Club in 2002, investing $25,000+ in a place we wanted to call our home-away-from-home. They treated us like royalty for our 1st few visits. Unfortunately, that is no longer true. We visit this resort at least 1-3 times/year, and feel we are treated just slightly better than a Mexican street-dog when we walk into the reception area. The front desk and 'concierge' staff are rude and unaccomodating, as they make you feel as if you are unfit for the privilege of occupying their musty, 3 star rooms. **By the way, 'concierge' is not a term for staff paid to help you feel at home, and find the best vacation experiences, at the best prices; No, no, no, NO!!!!! 'Concierge" is the code word for timeshare salespersons who will greet you kindly, then turn on you, visciously, if you give a cue that you're not buyin'. Over the last 4 - 5 years, we have had many negative experiences, and each time, taken time out of our vacation to speak to the General Manager, but after hollow promises, have seen ZERO in the way of positive change, and in fact, it continually gets WORSE from year-to-year!! On a positive note; We have always had satisfactory service from housekeeping, maintenance, and the restaurant staff

When you are used to the fine properties that Wyndham owns and manages, you can be surprised by the inadequacies of this resort. First of all, the A/C unit is directly over the bed and it is impossible to get it so it doesn't blow directly on you. We solved the problem by wedging a towel lengthwise along the top so it formed a curtain and cold air was reflected downward. The units themselves look to be about twenty years old. The small refrigerator and appliances are throwbacks of the eighties. There are only three TV channels in english and none of them are major networks or ESPN. The "so called" high speed wireless Internet is a joke. It is about as fast of the archaic "dial up" service. I see by the many positive reviews that many people have stayed here and enjoyed it very much. Maybe they provide better rooms for the paying the off the street prices guests, but if you are a Wyndham exchange guest, beware.
