“These takos ROCK!”

This is a definite must eat in Cozumel! We loved everything we had here. We stopped in 3 times during our week scuba vacation. The staff is very friendly and the food is unique and delicious. It's not a fancy establishment but it is clean and extremely well priced (dinner for two was under $20-$25 dollars with drinks). This is by far one of the tastiest restaurants we have eaten at in Cozumel. Order the main dishes with the six soft tortillas covered in various meats and veggies...we tried 3 different kinds and they were all amazing! Go, you won't be disappointed by the food.

“Could be better with a little more care”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

The owner here is keen to please but needs to pay more attention to his cook who smothers everything with cooking oil. All of our meals were swimming in the stuff on our plate. The restaurant is reasonably priced and clean if you want cheap eats. It was better than gettingh ripped off by the "free margaritas' restaurants closer to the square. I asked for alambres with chorizo and it came without what I had asked for so it had to go back. His fresh guacamole was very good although a little too salty.

“Awesome tacos!”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

This place hit the spot for a quick, cheap lunch. We had an assortment of tacos. all served with a two kinds of salsa, onions and chives. The al pastor and the skirt steak tacos were simple, inexpensive and delicious. They also have some taco plates which are interesting and original, served with 6 on a plate. We tried a plate with pork chop, poblanos, onion and melted cheese on corn tortillas. My daughter enjoyed cheese quesadillas. Lunch for 2 adults and a child with drinks and tip was $22.

“Skip the waterfront restaurants and try Tako Rock!”
Reviewed December 22, 2011

I was solo in Cozumel (wife sick on the cruise ship), and seeking out some authentic tacos. I asked several street vendors and found myself here at Tako Rock. I won't say that there's no tourist element to this place... it's clean, has comfortable tables and bilingual menus. It's not exactly rough "native" Mexican. On the other hand, you can find authentic Mexican if you order correctly. For me, that meant just ordering tacos... al pastor, and otherwise. The service was great (friendly, fast, polite), bilingual (if that's important to you), and the tacos are made fresh in front of you in an open kitchen. I also had a great agua de horchata (a sweet cinnamon rice-water... sounds odd, but you'll like it).

A couple of warnings... 1) the red salsa on the table is HOT! and this comes from a native Texan who eats chile peppers out of a jar and loves them. Good salsa, but hot! 2) I had some stomach issues after this day, but it may have been the stomach virus my wife had and unrelated to any food... Nonetheless, anytime you eat and drink in a foreign country, your body has to respond to unfamiliar bacteria and organisms. It doesn't mean the food was bad, it just means your body isn't used to it.

The short version is that I would definitely recommend Tako Rock!

“Good authentic and cheap Mexican food”
Reviewed December 11, 2011

We caught a whiff as we drove by on a Sunday, late afternoon. The place is not fancy, but it is clean. You can watch the cook working from the side walk (behind a glass window). The marinera (seafood) tacos were awesome, the chef and waiters are very accommodating with special orders. Great service, cheapest taco was 10 pesos each.
