Very comfortable beds and very quiet in spite of the fact that it is only 5 blocks from the restaurant areas. It is a little hard to find because the entrance from the street is just a double glass door with an escalator, taking you to the second floor entrance.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Mexicana for 10 days. We are not all-inclusive travellers and look for good, clean hotels that give us access to everything an area has to offer. Casa Mexican more than met our expectations. The entire hotel is immaculately clean, the staff very helpful and friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable, the breakfast buffet delicious. We had a rental car and there is a free municipal lot around the corner. We loved being able to take advantage of all the local restaurants in the evening and getting out in the car to tour the island during the day. If this is YOUR kind of hotel, we highly recommend it. This morning we are already missing Jaime's kind service during breakfast!

Room Tip: City view rooms over a view over the town, and the ones on the side of the building have great ocean...

Overall, the hotel is a decent stay. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I found the pool to be very disappointing, as it was extremely small and not heated, so it was cold. The location is good and the hotel is a quick walk to both the Plaza and the Ferry to Playa del Carmen. Our daily view of the ocean was nice, but cruise ships were in port most of the time, so we were always looking out on them. I did like the privacy of the balcony, though. The price was right, and we might consider staying here again. I would describe Casa Mexicana as a 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: I would ask for an ocean view, but you will pay more and there will be cruise ships obstructing the...

In reading other reviews, I went there expecting something less than I received. Absolutely no complaints here. Our room was on the 3rd floor with city view. If you expect to see beauty at every turn of your head, then you need to stay at a resort and don't leave that area. This was perfect for us. The hotel was constantly being cleaned not a speck of dirt anywhere. People and staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was great everyday. And we brushed our teeth with the tap water with no problems all week. Yes, the place does echo a bit but nothing like some others have mentioned in their reviews. We walked everywhere! Great location for so many things. The Mega is only a few blocks away and we took an empty suitcase with us to pack our purchases into and walk back with, stocked the mini fridge and we were set. Now as for the pool, its about hip high on me and I'm 5ft 3in. No you can't swim laps in it, its a wadding pool. We dove with Aqua Safari, which is just 2 doors down the street. As for safety, not once did I feel any concern that I was not safe and as I said earlier, we walked everywhere, both day and night to all areas. Loved it and will return again.

Room Tip: I would stay away from interior rooms, the ones that open into the breakfast area. I would think the...

Just came back from a week in Cozumel. Hotel location in town made it very easy to walk to stores and great restaurants. Hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. Our room was on the top floor facing the ocean where we could view the boats, including cruise ships. Big room with fridge, which was great for water, beer, and snacks. Bed was very comfortable. The daily breakfast was the bomb. We took advantage of eating a big breakfast so we only needed a snack for lunch. Like other reviews, because it is an open Hotel the sound level from the breakfast set ups and take downs was an annoyance. Luckily I brought a small, but very loud fan to block the noise.... thanks to other reviews about the noise. We were out and about every day after breakfast so it wasn't so bad. The pool is small and deck is hot, but we spent most of the time in the water at the beach. Husband dives and was able t go right across the street to be picked up and brought back. Balcony really nice to dry gear afterwards. I would stay there again and would recommend.

Good location, great breakfast, and friendly service. The rooms were of good size. the rooms were cleaned well everyday. The check in process was done quickly and with a smile. The cost of the room was of good value compared to the competition.Free parking was available close by. As far as safety is concerned, I never felt there was an issue here, plenty of employes in place to insure a good feeling.

Overall our experience was positive over the almost 2 weeks we stayed there. As others have mentioned, the location is ideal for walking around town, and free parking if you rent a car is nice.

The Internet was pretty annoying (slow, constantly dropping connection), we had a strange incident where the housekeeping staff took a bag of laundry that we didn't actually want washed (after much deliberation they didn't charge for it), and there are some spotty hygiene practices at breakfast (using the phone, then cooking without washing). Bit of an ant issue in the room.

Decent value for the price though.
