Park Royal is the place we seem to compare all others to. Service is excellent. Place is immaculate. All rooms have an ocean view balcony. We love the small beach. Cozumel is such a wonderful place and Park Royal will make you feel at home.

Room Tip: Every room is a good room at Park Royal. All have excellent view. Guess if you really wanted the b...

We have stayed at this resort twice and both stays were exceptional. If you stay here you really should take the all-inclusive option. The food and service are excellent. They have two specialty restaurants on site as well as an excedllent buffet. There are 3 pools, all with swim up bars and yes, the libations are included in the all-inclusive. There is also a small private beach area with access to the water for snorkeling or swimming.
We have made friends with some of the staff and are planning to take the family down for a week in 2013. There are daily activities and nightly shows at an outdoor theater. The things I would like to see added is room service and coffee makers in the rooms but with such a fine buffet available until 10PM it is a small inconveinence that is not a deal breaker with us.
You are a short walk across the street to the International Pier where cruise ships come in. You can shop your heart out and find just about anything.

Room Tip: The upper floors have an excellent view of the water and you can see the cruise ships.

Park Royal is a very nice property. The food and drinks are good, but not top shelf. The rooms are great, the buffet is very good. Service is above average. Great little beach area with an under-the-road walk through to the beach area/snack bar/bar. Cool setup. They also have a dock available for dive shop pickup. I've stayed here twice and will likely stay again in the future.

Room Tip: get an ocean view room...it's worth the little extra cost

Park Royal offers much yet needs improvement in some areas.
Room for improvement: Unless "you" are a time share member, there will be no coffee pot/coffee in your room., Ice cream is not offered in any of the restaurants or snack bars. No bacon was served in any restaurant during our 6 day stay. We thought the wi fi fees were exorbitant. The "Ambassador Suites" were designed in a very strange, "lock-out" floor plan. Hot water was at a premium.
that said,
The restaurant food offerings were among the best we have experienced at any restaurant on the Riviera Maya and the beverage services in the restaurants, snack bars, and poolside were very good.
This property is extremely clean and well maintained. The Flora and Fauna are so dense as to reflect an Hawaiian atmosphere rather than Mexican.
An excellent beach, snorkeling and dive areas makes up the "back yard" of the facility.
We did not use the tour services but regarded the variety available as "the usual."
By the way, we chose to fly into Cancun and use the ferry service to the island...No problem whatsoever and a lot less expensive. Upon request, we will provide the name of the services we used.

Room Tip: lower level rooms are surrounded by trees and vegetation and trees with limited ocean views.

Stayed at the hotel March 4-11,2012. It is a very clean place. Small beach but nice grounds around hotel. Enjoyed going into town for shopping. Most employees very nice. Was there with three friends and had a good time. But if you like a large beach I would go somewhere else. Was a nice place for snorkling.

My husband and I travel to Cozumel often and we were one of the suckers to buy a vacation package because we were supposed to get a year of buy one, get one free flights and unlimited stays at the Park Royal resorts with only the purchase of the all inclusive fees. We never got to use the airline tickets because there was no availability in 1 year of travel, secondly, when we try to book a hotel room, they are always booked - the 800# tells us that they only have a limited # of rooms for members. So learn from our mistake - DO NOT BUY THE ROYAL HOLIDAY TIMESHARE VACATION PACKAGE, no matter what the cost. It is much cheaper to buy a trip on cheapcaribbean or applevacations by the time you add in the airfare and hotel fees and it is much easier to book with a few clicks on the PC rather than an 800# with people that speak limited English.

After a year and 3 months later, we finally got to use our package. The hotel is at 30% occupancy in September - so it is an awesome time to travel here if you don't want a crowded hotel. It is a little confusing as a member as why we had to spend several hours on the phone to book a hotel that should need business.

Anyways, on to my review. No doubt the hotel is nice, the room is nice and clean and the air condition is cool and the water is hot in the showers. The food is ok in the buffet - breakfast is the best meal...there are two restaurants (Mexican and Italian) in the evenings. To be honest though, none of the buffet food that I've eaten in Mexico is what I call delicious and I'm not much of a food snob, so I don't have really high standards. So the buffet and restaurant food is comparable to the other hotels that I have stayed at in Cozumel. The employees that work here in the bars, pools and restaurants at Park Royal are nice and don't expect tips. We always bring $1 bills to tip the employees for their service at meals and the bar. It is always wise to bring probiotic supplements on your trip, as the meals/water down here are different than the ones in the US and may help out your digestive track. The drinks are good at the bars and have some drinks like Mojitos that other all inclusives do not offer. There is a workout facility on site, it has the basics and is included for members or $5 a day for non members.

As for the negatives here - wireless internet access was $80 for the week and didn't work well in the room, but it did work outside. There are other all inclusive hotels offer this service for free in the lobby. If you are a diver, we were told the dock fee was $2 a day, but we were offered $5 per week. I haven't seen these fees at some other hotels in the area. The pools look dirty at the bottom, but the paint is peeling up from the bottom of the pool so it looks like sand on the bottom-so I think they are clean but they need a little work.

So all in all - this was a perfect time to travel and the hotel was nice, but very comparable to the Iberostar/Fiesta Americana/Sabor with the exception that the room is much nicer, food is very comparable but the wireless and dock fees are much more expensive. We ended up paying about 500 dollars more on this trip and the room wasn't that much nicer than the other hotels, so sadly, even as members since this isn't as cost effective for us - we will stay at other resorts in Cozumel for our subsequent trips.

We stay at Park Royal at least once a year. It's a great hotel, great service and lovely beach/pool/bar on the ocean side. You can't go wrong with this hotel.

I did want to post for those looking for wireless information because I had a hard time finding it on line before my trip in early August. Park Royal no longer has free internet in the lobby. However you can now buy wireless anywhere in the resort, it worked all the way from my room to the beach.

US $ 10 1 Hour
US $ 16 24 hrs.

Packages:
5 days US$ 64
7 days US$ 79.95

There is also a restaurant just down called Paprika's that is supposed to have free internet. I did not try it.
