The Staff was great, the food for Mexico was awful, We had to go to town to get a meal with some taste..really...I thought that there would be a lot of flair but really ,hot dogs on pizza, the same meals for a week....big drawback...In a age of hi speed everything the lack of internet, even to confirm your out bound flight is just poor....

I know the bad reviews the Sabor has received but I must say, we had a wonderful time!
The resort is pretty good, not top of the line but not bad at all.. the sunsets are beautiful and the people that work there are so very nice.. My favorite is Angel Solis at the tiki bar on the way to portifinos .. he is excellent and its people like him that you go back to see, he truly made our vacation so much better... He always has a smile and went out of his way for everyone.. I tip my hat to you Angel..

The food wasn't bad at all.. Gloria that works the breakfast grill is another one that that went out of her way every day.. I will miss her eggs.

And another one I would like to mention is Angel at the front desk, he was such a pleasure on our check in, again its people like them that will bring you back to the Sunscape Sabor.

I can say that if you want quiet, Secrets may be for you, but if you want fun and friendly people, stay at the Sabor!

We arrived around 4:00 PM on 01/18/14. Check in was a pain. We had two couples and one solo arriving. The couples made reservations via Apple in Oct. and the solo guest signed on in Dec. One couples room wasn't ready, the solo got a great room on the third floor with a king size bed and the other couple was assigned a room on the third floor that was occupied.
Before we moved any bags, hoping to get the third room assigned, we were sat down in the nice lobby couch areas and given our $200 free voucher speech. (worthless IMHO). And then were tried to get nailed down on scheduling a time to view their other properties. (Time share presentation.) We declined an told the lady after listening her for the last half hour or so that we really wanted to get a drink and a bite to eat. The next day she chased us around when we seen her until one of us told her we weren't interested and leave us alone. After that no more bothers from her.
Off to the two rooms we went.
We took both couples luggage to the 2331 and the key's didn't work,. The number was written by the clerk at the desk on the map I was given and shown to the bell hop. He then used his key to opened the door and quickly pulled it closed when we could see personal items in the room. (what a shock for those folks). (I felt sorry to the bell hop for carrying several of the bags up three floors needlessly.)
The bell hop ran down to lobby and returned with another room assigned, 2313. We moved both couples luggage to this room until the second couples room was located. What a terrible room 2313 was.
It has a view of the rear walkway and storage shed, the torn screen in bathroom let mosquitos in, the safe was locked open, mini fridge didn't work, mold on the wall, towel rack falling off. OMG, this vacation is going to suck! We asked for a different room and was told they'd have one the next day. During the night while using the bath room a large, 2", roach was seen on the floor. I caught it with toilet paper and flushed quickly down to toilet as it scampered to climb out, thank goodness my gal didn't discover this. The next morning, after a sleepless night, were moved to a much nicer room. What a relief it was to be out of that room. As we passed that room during our stay we could tell nothing had been done to the room as the drapes where still opened as we had left them for several day. I guess this was the "last room" available. Yuk!
Both couples had rooms with twin full size beds which were comfortable but single kings would have been nice.
Things became enjoyable around lunch time. The rooms were taken care of, time share lady was off our back, vacation was back on track. :)
From there on out everything was great, friendly staff, decent food, great house keeping and perfect weather.
All five of us agreed that we'd return to this property again.

Room Tip: stay away from 2313!

Spent a week in January 2014. They closed the large buffet off to us and the one now being used has less than 1/2 the selection. The internet used to be in each building and now only in the lobby. The beginning of the week the signal was extremely bad, but was better by the end of the week. Beach & Pool lounge chairs were a problem as there were not enough and people were out by 6 am putting towels on and saving. The food is okay, not super, but alright. The staff as always was wonderful, helpful and polite! But are favorite staff have been moved to the Secrets Aura side of the hotel. There are no longer towel cards, which is nice. We had been told last year that they were going to update, but the only updates we noticed were the door entries are now a magnetic card instead of a key on a string. The dress code has changed to casual, just no swim suits (so will pack different next time) as you used to need reservations and nice clothes to specialty restaurants. (neither needed anymore). They did show some good movies and have nightly entertainment. We have been going there for 13 years and it is starting to show it's age. But we enjoy seeing people that we have meet on previous trips. The beach is nice as is the snorkeling in front of the hotel. The beach bar now closes at 5 pm instead of 6 pm, that was kind of disappointing. All in all we had a nice time.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean front, not view and first floor is nice.

When we booked the Sabor, we did so based upon Apple's rating system, which gave this resort a 4 apple. The Sabor is no higher than a 3 apple. Rooms are small and mediocre; food is mediocre; main pool and area are small. The only place to get WiFi was in the lobby, and then only in a small area, so everyone is sitting on top of each other to get a connection. They have lost a large portion of the property, including a restaurant, to Secrets next door. The one positive was the staff, most were helpful and had smiles on their faces. We were so disappointed that we paid extra and gave up some of our precious time to move to Secrets.

This was our 3rd year in a row we chose the Sabor for our vacation destination. I will be honest, I was worried. Last year we heard possible new ownership, which usually means change? Plus, I read a lot of bad reviews after already booking. Regardless, I went with an open mind.
Once again, the Sabor was what we expected plus a few changes.
The beach is awesome, the water is perfect, we take floaties and can float all day In the ocean and not get pounded by waves. It's a great snorkeling location. We never had to fight to get a lounge chair.
The food was ok, it's nice to have a choice. The sea side grill is what we visited most, restaurant options we fine for what we wanted. Drink options were awesome. The staff was by far the best part of the Sabor, not once were we not greeted when a staff member passed by.
Danial, Louis,Gabriel to man a few, were so friendly. Louis we have known from past years and enjoy his stories and friendship from year to year.

All in all, we love the Sabor as it fits our needs. We have been treated very well each time we have been there. I have had better food choices at other places we have stayed, but the food choices is not a deal breaker for us.

As our group traveled back to the airport, we all agreed we will be back next year. For all inclusive you can't beat the price.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the main bar are noisier late into the night, but the view of the ocean is to die fo...
