We heard good things about Kondesa from several other couples staying at Residencias Reef.
We went last night with another couple. It was a prefect night for "al fresco" dining. We arrived early (about 5:30) so we had our choice of tables. We headed toward a table in the rear of the garden area, but the waiter suggested a round table a little closer to the front. They had just lit some incense to control the mosquitoes and it needed some time to work effectively.
We asked about the Sangria since we had not tried any in Cozumel yet. We explained that we do not like it too sweet. Our waiter said it was made with orange and pineapple juices, red wine and some tequila. We asked if we could try a sample and they brought us a whole glass to try. It tasted a little "different" so we decided to get our normal drinks.
Daniel, our waiter, was very friendly and attentive (without being intrusive). He answered all our questions about the menu and explained that this they serve a different style of Mexican cuisine. We decided to split their "surf and Turf" (flank steak with shrimp) and got an order of panuchos to start.
The presentation of the panuchos was beautiful. They were a bit small but extremely tasty.
The presentation of the surf and turf was also very nice. The Angus beef flank steak was cooked to perfection but the shrimp were a bit overcooked. It came with mashed potatoes that were lightly seasoned with cinnamon (very interesting).
Daniel stopped buy several times to make sure everything was going well.
All in all it was a very pleasant experience.
