My family and I had a late dinner here (8 PMish) on the 28th after returning from the mainland, and everyone agreed it was fantastic. They have a more modern (foodie?) take on Mexican food, and they do a very good job with it.

When we walked in, Jason greeted us enthusiastically, and as the place was slowing down for the evening, offered us our choice of tables. We sat in the back, and those sitting against the edge of the garden had a great view of a tasteful dining room/patio.

Jason asked how we found the place, and I mentioned I saw it on Trip Advisor. He said they had been moving up the rankings (#9 as of this posting) and I can see why.

We started with the trio of different guacamoles, which were all excellent, and the queso fundido, which we could have eaten with a spoon. Ask for more chips if you need them - we ran out while eating the guac and they quickly brought more.

As a previous review mentioned, the catch of the day was red snapper. I had this for my entree prepared "Azteca" with a huitlacoche risotto and a poblano cream sauce. Others had the red snapper in enchiladas or with a tomatillo sauce, and one had the pasta with blackened chicken. All were excellent (I had leftover pasta for lunch today and can attest to how good it was). We decided to pass on dessert, as we were all stuffed, but Jason didn't believe us and sent over an order of Churros on the house. Even though we were all full, they were so tasty they all quickly disappeared.

The only drawback would be that the bar/cocktail menu seemed a little limited for the quality and type of food that was served. I would have expected a little more selection of tequilas/liquors, and the cocktails were not very inventive. There was a decent selection of wines available, though, for the island. The prices were what I expected to see. Maybe a little higher than some other places but the quality of the food was well worth it. And it was less than a similar meal would be in the states.

All in all, I would highly recommend Kondesa to anyone looking for a nicer meal. Excellent food in a relaxing atmosphere with friendly service.

Kondesa, "brother" to Kinta is on its way to success. Peaceful and relaxing garden setting, allowing for nice conversation, easy listening background music and star gazing..Jason working the tables meeting and greeting, chatting about specials was helpful. The jicamia/red snapper taco appetizer were delicious. Strawberry salad was great and entree choices excellent. Red Snapper was the catch of the day last night and very good served with risotto. Mine was stuffed chicken breast mole/poblano creme another winner...Churros with chocolate & caramel dipping sauces was yummy finish.
We ate here 2 years ago when Kondesa first opened and not impressed. Brothers, Jason & Kris have worked hard to adjust and refine the menu and it has paid off. Calling out to all diners to give Kondesa another try, you will be pleased you did. Love success stories and hard work paying off.
