Our tour of Chichen Iza was very good. Our guide, Manuel, was informative and considerate. They easily found us at the ferry dock and took us to our air conditioned tour bus. It was a FULL day, but one we will remember for a long time.

We booked the El Cedral Jungle horseback ride, and we were severely disappointed with the condition of the horses. They were too skinny, and one was covered in ticks. I was at least happy to see they were shoed, but that is probably only because the terrain is so rough. The "trail" is covered in rocks and parts are slippery.
Then we were brought to the town of "ruins." It was a cheesy tourist stop with locals asking us to buy jewelry, clothes, etc. We were only supposed to be there 10 minutes, but somehow we were there for an hour.
I know the horses aren't too skinny due to ignorance, because they had beautiful racehorses that they keep in pristine condition. The only give the trail horses hay and corn, which is unacceptable for the amount of work required of them.
We enjoyed the beach attraction; the food and drinks are great. The service was also nice.

Hola Molly! Great news that you enjoyed your beach break so much, thank you so much for sharing your positive feedback of that activity. Thank you too for bringing your concerns about the El Cedral ride to our attention. We have suspended sales of this tour until we can investigate the condition of the horses and ensure the quality of the experience.

This tour has received good reviews - you can see some of them here on TripAdvisor - but this is a very cheap tour at just over $30.00 per person, so like with any tour that cheap, your enjoyment will depend a lot on setting your expectations. You can only expect so much for that amount of money. We do offer another horseback riding trip on our website that is of higher quality, but as you might expect the price is quite a bit higher.

We have traveled numerous times to the Riviera Maya area and have taken numerous tours, including the Jungle Tour, ATV, Horse-back riding, etc. The Cozumel tour included a ferry round-trip, a jeep to drive(not a scooter, which is dangerous), a personal guide exclusively for my wife and I, snorkeling, and a true Mexican meal out of fajitas(your choice of beef, chicken, or pork) and round trip travel from resort to the ferry in Playa Del Carmen. The end of the day also included an hour and a half of shopping for souvenirs before boarding on the return ferry trip. I must say, this day has been the most well spent time away from the resort that we have ever had!
We first arrived at the ferry with our tour guide and driver. The guide then walked us to the ferry ticket booth and purchased our tickets for us, as we had made a one time payment forlorn the above. We were then escorted off the pier in Cozumel and passed off to our personal tour guide, "Jimmy" . I again must say, Jimmy was the best personal tour guide that could be asked for! He asked what interests we would have as he walked us the three blocks to our own personal jeep. He wanted to know if we wanted to see the beach, gave us the option of snorkeling or diving, if we wanted to visit the highest point on the island, if we wanted to see the first original church, or if we wanted to just drive around. Jimmy had his own car that he drove in front of us, but we had our jeep to ourselves following him. We first crossed the island from the town of Cozumel straight east bisecting the island in half. As we arrived on the East coast, the multi-colored blue water came into view and was marvelous. We have been in the Bahamas, and this gave their water a run for its money! Such a beautiful sight! The water was banging off the rocks and spraying the air. Jimmy had us stop at the highest point, a restaurant bar and grill called "Coconuts". What a life they must lead! Beautiful views, great food, and a laid back atmosphere. Great place! We then found a place on the beach to see and walk on. Each place, Jimmy took a picture with our camera and his! We have excellent pictures! We then stopped at a blowhole and rock formation. He always knew where the best pictures were located!(I even had pictures with two iguanas for a small tip) This was followed up by a trip to the the oldest church on the island with a Mayan warrior standing out front for pictures. Awesome stop, as Jimmy was from the area and had personal knowledge of all the local attractions.
Next, we went to the Money Beach to snorkel. Here, Jimmy had a lifeguard buoy that he had my wife stabilize with, as my wife is not a good swimmer and didn't want to even go snorkeling. He personally made the effort to let her begin on her own terms and left her the buoy as he got her used to the idea. He then had her on her way snorkeling in twenty feet of water as he fed the fish and kept her calm the whole time. She is terrified of fish and loved it! The views were magnificent, and he also had the underwater camera and once again set up numerous pictures. We snorkeled for about 45 minutes! We then drove back into town and were dropped off at a seaside restaurant with our choice of fajitas. The meal was delicious! Jimmy then sold us his version of our pictures, but the underwater pictures were amazing! He also gave us an email, and asked us to become his friends!
We were three blocks from the ferry and had an hour plus to shop. We made it back in plenty of time to be early for the ferry. A great trip back to the mainland, and to our resort. All in all, it was a magnificent trip that my wife and I, both enjoyed! My wife is hard to please, especially in the ocean, and she loved it! I highly recommend the Cozumel tour!

We booked the 4 hour Palancar & Columbia snorkel tour. This was an excellent tour. Lots of time in the water, friendly staff. We received GREAT photos taken of us in the water. They were sharp, clear with bright colors. Best under water photos I've seen. We bought the CD full of photos, with 6 to 8 great shots of us as well as many more of the sea life for $37. Well worth it. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the Money Bar beach. Great food and wonderful massage. 60 minutes for $50 less charged to our credit card due to exchange rate.
