Chankanaab offers a great variety of activities that make for an interesting day. You can snorkel to your hearts content and see all kinds of sea life....just like swimming in an aquarium as the fish will swim right up to you (apparently some people have been feeding them although this is prohibited). Thatched beach "umbrellas" allow some protection from the sun. You can swim with dolphins if that is your thing, or explore some of the "tacky" tourist shops or tequila tasting. Heavily visited by cruise ship passengers so if you're staying in Cozumel recommend you get there early to stake out some loungers and some shade. An easy taxi ride from the ferry terminal or most resorts on the west shore. There is food for purchase or (apparently) you can bring your own as we packed drinks and sandwiches and noone seemed to care. If you are renting snorkeling gear I think there is some room to negotiate price.....the going rate seemed to be $10 for mask/snorkel/fin and flotation. If you're renting multiple sets recommend you negotiate a package price. Plan on spending at least 4-5 hours or more to fully enjoy everything there is to do (bring plenty of sunscreen!).

The trip from the ferry is very long and expensive. The park is very old and they close very early, around 4pm to be exact so go early. They limit you with everything there so we were actually very disappointed. They also limit your picture taking ability, they want you to pay to see everything in order to take a picture of it which was very strange to me since you could see most of the animals without being right up on them. They would stand in front of you to make sure you didn't get a picture unless you shelled out money. Nothing really good to say about our trip, sorry guys/gals.

Great beach, cool snorkelling, wonderful little family type shows, opportunities to swim with dolphins and manatees and some truly beautiful grounds.

We did this as part of a package included with our hotel. They shuttled us over in taxis, which was pretty convenient. The park itself is pretty nice. There is a tequila shop that offers samples of the different tequilas. I'd probably say that was the best part!!! Additionally, there are wild iguanas that roam the grounds. They're pretty big too! As well, the kids really enjoyed the crocodile exhibit, which includes a view of several really large crocodiles along with some babies. The snorkeling was just ok as I said in above. Probably tried to bring too many people into the water at once. I am going to write a separate review of the Dolphin Encounter (very touristy)
