“EH! You may want better”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

If all you want is to dive your butt off this place may be the one for you. Since the focal point here is the diving it is partially inclusive (no booze included) which I found a good value. But, the food is just ok, service is ok. I had a hard time convincing the dive shop to finish the ship wreck certification I started. It takes 3 dives, after my first it was like pulling teeth to get the other two done. The location is great, walking distance to town and groceries. I had a room by the street and you can hear the cars driving by all the time. Not my idea of a quaint quiet vacation in paradise.

I attempted to stay there again with a better room but . . . .
They will not guaranty any specific room, they tell you it is first come first serve. I refuse to leave the quality of my vacation up to chance. so I will stay elsewhere from now on.

Room Tip: They will not guaranty any specific room, they tell you it is first come first serve. You may end up...

We booked a 7-day package with SCC for the new year holiday, which included 5-day boat dives and unlimited shore dives. Highlights:

1. Excellent dive masters!

Our boat dive guide is Ariel, who is a super nice person and absolutely outstanding in finding interesting marine lives! We came across eagle rays, turtles, octopus... you might say those are being lucky, but he helped us find several seahorse during the trips! Considering the size of them and the environment they are living, you can never overstate the difficulty.

We also took a PADI Rescue Diver course with their PADI Instructor, William. He is a super fun person to work with! The book is kinda boring but he made it fun by showing us real-life examples in the club during the classes, how they handle emergencies etc., very useful!

2. Excellent equipment

The equipment in their dive shop is under great maintenance, all in very good condition. This is essential for any great dives!

3. Facilities designed for divers

As many other reviewers mentioned, the entire resort is designed for divers, so everything is just so convenient!

4. Great food!

Their chef is so good at cooking beef! Very impressed by their new york steak.

5. Very helpful boat staff!

During the boat trips, they took care of everything - helping us get on / off the boat, mount / change / pack the gears, handing over drinks after dives... Big thanks!

A few complaints:

1. I was stung by sea urchin during a shore dive at night. The wound turned black and I was worried there might be spines left in there. When I went to the front desk to ask for help, the lady simply told me to wash it with hot water. That would work for jellyfish stung but not urchin spines... Fortunately the spines turned out to be only left in my wetsuit. But as a dive resort, it makes a lot of sense to have trained staff to handle injuries or emergencies even when dive masters are off work.

2. It would be very helpful to have a dryer in the resort! I brought my own 3mm long-sleeve wetsuit. The air is quite humid in Cozumel, when it gets cloudy or even rainy, it's impossible to dry the wetsuit before putting it back to the suitcase... I guess some fellow divers have similar problems.

A few tips:

1. Take the chance to do the shore dives at night! The site is pretty simple, with only a few concrete blocks with no reef, but still full of eels, lobsters, shrimps, rays... especially at night. We simply stayed and observed individuals of them for a long period (the shallow water made it possible for a long bottom time), it was very interesting to see how they hunt and dodge etc.!

2. Bring your equipments if possible. The rental is not cheap if you're staying for a long time.

3. Dive shop noise didn't turn out to be a problem although our room is directly facing it. We always got up early for the morning dives!

4. Bring a lock to use the lockers on the shore so you don't have to carry the gears back to the room all the time.

In conclusion, we love the dive sites a lot, the resort and the staff are both great, definitely coming back!

Room Tip: For convenience, ask for a first floor room facing the pier. For privacy, get one on the second floo...

The diving at Scuba Club was amazing! There are some many great things about Scuba Club - the dive boat crew and dive master were fantastic! friendly, and very helpful. The accommodations were just right, not too fancy, not too sparse. Even though I didn't have mobile phone coverage, the WiFi was available all over the resort. The proximity to town was nice too for walking versus having to take taxi's everywhere. The food was good, not fantastic, but always filling. I loved the fact that we could just grab air and dive off the resort and still see amazing things (like Octopus, Puffers, Eel's, Rays, Fish galore). The staff was incredibly friendly, and even got to know our names after just a few days.
So bottom line, I would definitely spend another vacation at Scuba Club without hesitation!

Room Tip: Try and get waterfront rooms, any floor, they are fantastic! Definitely do not get the room right o...

This is the Hotel to stay at if you have come to Dive! Packages include a two tank boat dive in the mornings. You can then choose a wreck dive, twilight, or night dives for a fee or Shore dive for free the rest of the day.
Only complaint would be the hard beds (well the wife did complain about having to get up early everyday on her vacation)

There are very few dive resorts that have things as together as Scuba Club Cozumel...in all the world. Everything is convenient and a great value. We will continue to go there, and do every year. Just got back, and can't wait to go again!
