Awesome jungle resort!
We just got back from a 5 night stay. Can't say enough about Iberostar. Resort is beautiful and really feels like a small jungle. Lots of animals around and everything clean and neat. Room was nice, a little small, but still great. We were lucky - the resort wasn't very crowded so we got a great spot near the pool and the beach. Swim up bar in the pool is awesome, and the busiest in the resort.
The beach is also very nice. Gradually slopes away from the pool through palm trees.
It is a bit rocky, but for snorkeling just go to the end of the pier or walk north about 500 yards to some nice smooth sand. If you go - definitely snorkel!!
Food was awesome. They really have some great buffets at IB. Try the Mexican, some very good tequilas too.
Cozumel is a beautiful place. Check out Punta Sur. Cool eco-park with snorkeling and lots of nature. Kids are free!
Go to town on Sundays when no cruise ships come in. Not crowded and stuff is cheaper. Can't wait to get back down there!

I won't go into a huge number of details, as many other travelers do. I do want to say this was a great hotel, with great service by every person we encountered while staying there our week on vacation.

Yes, the rooms are small and the bed was harder than mine at home, but we weren't in the room much except to sleep and being so tired, the bed just wasn't an issue.

The buffet, all but two nights, was very good and offered a wide variety of items from which to choose. The breakfasts were always great (we had lots of custom omelets!). The Mexican and Steak ala carte restaurants were decent, but not gourmet, so I would dock them a little bit, but again, nobody in our party was ever close to starvation.

The Star Friends team led by Eduardo was spectacular. I don't know how much they earn, but they earn every penny of it and more. They were all very friendly and we had a great time playing water volleyball, aerobics and basketball, and the shows put on at night were of great quality and were a lot of fun.

Overall, if you want an all-inclusive, great value, quiet and great service, this is the place to go and we would come back in a heartbeat.

We just got back from a wonderful vacation spent at the Iberostar. I think everyone in our group of 19 was completely satisfied and happy with the resort. The rooms were nice and clean. Service was outstanding. Food was good for an all-inclusive. The only negative thing we can say would be that the pool closed at 7:00 and that is way too early and was a disappointment for our group. The resort had several nightly entertainment activities including Karaoke and Disco that some of us participated. I also cant say enough about the Dressel dive shop on the premises. Nine of us got certified while we were there, and the dive masters were wonderful. Fantastic experience that made this vacation even more memorable. We have stayed in Cozumel twice now and last year we all stayed at the Occidental Grand. It was a horrible experience and we will never stay there again. If you are trying to decide on what resort to stay at I highly recommend the Iberostar.

I loved the Hut style rooms. I also loved the relaxing atmosphere of this resort! We did get lost trying to find our rooms several times, usually because we were looking at the beautiful grounds and iguanas. The service was great. The rooms were clean. Our door key didn't work a couple of times but they were quick to fix it. We enjoyed having the night club on the premises even if it wasn't full of people. It was nice to hear good/fun music.

Cozumel Vacation

I vacationed at the Iberostar Cozumel in Janaury 2009. It was a fantastc trip. The airport was nice but AVOID the "time share" people at the airport and go directly to your mode of transportation. They will dress like the are from a travel agency but are trying to sell you things you do not need. We set up our activites when we got to the resort. The short ride from the airport was amazing. There were many cruise ships docked at the San Miguel port. Our resort was tropical paradise and the rooms were in two story "huts" each with a balcony or terrace. I recommend renting a car and going into the city for some shopping. We went on Sunday when no ships were docked. Some of the expensive shops were not open on Sundays but it was a lot less crowded and we had plenty of shopping and sightseeing. We visited the Punta Sur lighthouse and the famous "Coconuts" bar on the East coast of Cozumel. The East coast rocks and water was a photographer's dream. Another great place to eat is Chen Rio's restaurant also located on the East side. We had a seafood platter for 6 and it was the best seafood I had ever eaten. The restaurants at the resort were fantastic and the drinks were cold. There was nightly entertainment and plenty of daytime activites. The beaches at the Ibereostar resort are rocky. You would need water shoes. We snorkeled off the pier and also took a snorkeling trip. Our first night there I thought it was a little cool but rest of the week was perfect. We had rain once in 7 days that lasted for about 20 minutes. Although I like to vacation in different areas each year, I will definetly go back to Cozumel.

I would highly recomment this hotel to stay at. Each villa had its own hammock and the villas were like we had our own place. The pool games were really cheesy but all in all the trip was awesome! It was the first time I did an all inclusive and I am still kind of on the fence about it because it would have been nice to be able to go to dinner in the town a few nights to really experience the whole culture. Loved my wren and stimpy bartenders....if you go, ask them for "shet in da grass" shot from the short one. What a blast that place was....watch out for an arrogant bald man named Frank, he was very awful to the staff and anyone around him - he knows management there so he stays/dives for free.
