I am right now sitting in the airport in Cozumel, sad to be leaving after another wonderful dive trip. We stayed for the umpteenth time at the Blue Angel. I just love this hotel. The staff are always so friendly and helpful and seem to remember everyone - even those who are returning after only one visit. The open air lobby is perfect for relaxing with a good book and a margarita. The open air restaurant sits upstairs overlooking the sea where you can watch the dive boats come and go or watch kids from a cruise ship playing in a sea enclosure filled with sting rays and fish.

The food is quite good and priced affordable. The dive shop staff are excellent and don't force experienced divers into a tiny compact group as many shops do. The boats are fast and well set up for scuba diving. The rooms are spacious with good air conditioning. Someone is always asking if they can get you something or assist you in any way. And I love that they have several "pet" land tortoises that roam the grounds and come to visit.

All in all a great place to stay and I'm sad to be leaving.

A great little hotel right on the water front, well away from the hustle and bustle of Cozumel town. All rooms have a terrace and overlook the sea and pool. Very simple, rustic rooms, small fridge with drinks, air conditioning and telephone. No tea/coffee in the room but the hotel has its own restaurant, overlooking the sea and is open all day. The food is good.
The staff are kind and friendly, especially the lady on reception, she made us feel very welcome.
Ideal for divers. Reasonably priced and would definitely stay there again.
There is no lift/elevator - so ask for a room on the ground floor if you have difficulty going up and down stairs.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the sea and pool - just remember there are no lifts or elevators.

This was my husband and I's first trip to Cozumel and to the Blue Angel Resort. The BA is a small hotel - 22 rooms on 4 floors. There is an open air lobby, all rooms have a balcony and view of the ocean. We were in 401 and had a corner view. Sunsets are beautiful and can be seen from the balcony. There is a pool and a restaurant on-site. The majority of guests are there for the diving. My husband and I didn't take advantage of the diving but, very much enjoyed the hotel anyway.

Pros:
Staff is friendly, helpful and customer service was very good

The rooms were clean, beds on the firm side but, comfortable, AC, small TVs and refrigerators in each room. Each room has a large sliding glass door with a screen and overlooks the ocean. So, you can enjoy open air or the AC depending on your preference. There was a lovely breeze coming from the water.

There are purified water stations on each floor and the lobby. Would recommend bringing some sort of covered beverage container to refill as needed.

The restaurant was wonderful, staff responsive and courteous. Coffee was strong and excellent. There's a wide variety of foods ranging from "typical American/Canadian" style breakfasts a la eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, yogurt to traditional Mexican breakfasts. Lunch menu was also good - excellent chicken burritos. There was also a variety of dinner choices, a nice bar and fantastic fresh mango Margarita's - a must try. Ice was made from purified water so, no worry about getting Montezuma's Revenge.

Most nights there was live entertainment - acoustic guitar. It ended between 9 and 10 and if you didn't feel like listening from the restaurant you could listen from your balcony.

On check-in you get a free drink of your choice at the restaurant.

One beach towel at a time provided per person.

You just can't beat the price.

Cons:
No elevator - all rooms are walk-up. Staff will help you with your bags for a small tip

Water pressure was so-so and seemed to fluctuate when toilets were being flushed elsewhere in the hotel.

As with many places in Cozumel - there are no paper products allowed in the toilet (yes, including toilet paper). Strange but, very common all across the island - not in the least unique to the BA.

There is a bit of road noise. BA is on the main drag (well, there's pretty much one main road that goes around the island so, many hotels are on the main road).

There is noise from the dive shop (delivery of tanks for divers). We found if we shut the interior bathroom door most of the noise didn't reach us.

No hair drier in the rooms.

Walk to town was ~2 miles. Easy to take a taxi or walk.

Surprises:
The occasional gecko found a way into the room (probably under the door). I had no idea that they were nocturnal and have a high pitched screech they use to communicate with each other. Only had one night of gecko screeches (thank goodness) but, who knew that such a small creature could make such a powerful noise.

For the type of hotel - this is an excellent choice. We would visit again.

We keep coming back, we feel so at home here. All of the staff are great. The rooms are spacious, restaurant is fantastic. It was a pleasant surprise to find that there is live music in the restaurant in the evenings now. Tony and Norman from the dive shop were especially helpful. All of the staff are very friendly, helpful and have a good sense of humor. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are ocean view - I don't think you can get a bad room here.

What can I say, another great time at Blue Angel. The staff is amazing, and always makes you feel like your at home. Dive operation is top notch as always. If you want a clean, great location, great view "from every room," great food & drinks, and want to dive with some of the best on Cozumel. Stay here! Thanks again Blue Angel for another year of great memories.

I spent a week staying and diving at Blue Angel and loved every second of it. I was traveling with 2 non diver friends and they also loved it there so it caters very well to divers and non diving friends and partners. The rooms are big and every room has a balcony that views the water. Nothing better than watching the morning dive boats arrive from your balcony with a cup of fresh coffee in hand. The rooms are big with lots of plugins, AC if you want, and beds were very comfortable. The resort is small and all the staff were very friendly and attentive. The dive experiences were amazing and all of the dive shop staff were awesome. The restaurant on site is excellent and never disappointed. The included breakfast was varied and had generous portions... we never left hungry. We enjoyed several happy hour sunsets up there :) It's a bit of walk to town but not that bad. Cabs are about $7 into town so not a big deal if you don't want to walk. The rooms have fridges so you can keep some food or beer in your room as well. Local grocery stores are close by. Rent a jeep or scooter and go to the other side of the island. Beaches over there are so beautiful and worth the short trip. I can't wait to return to Blue Angel and go diving in the beautiful Cozumel reefs.

Imagine going to sleep with the sea 10 feet away and incredible music...this is Blue Angel. A diver's dream with every convenience too. Your breakfast is served at a palapa-covered, open air restaurant with wonderful, happy staff. What more could you need?

Room Tip: Even though every room faces the sea, ask for one on the north end on an upper floor.
