We booked through Expedia and got a small oceanfront hotel room (not a suite) on the 3rd floor of the old building. The room was clean, but showed signs of wear (the bedding and the bathroom). We never had a good night's sleep due to the icemaker being in the hallway. Everytime someone got ice (past midnight and beginning again in the early am), it sounded like a load of gravel being dumped right outside our door.
No one bothered us about a timeshare. The food in the hotel was mediocre. Our best meals were at Guido's and Mesa 17. Primo and Pepe's were ok, but like dining in the middle of Grand Central Station -- not very relaxing.
The dive shop on site doesn't have much in the way of facilities (no tank to rinse gear, no lockers -- our little room was filled with dripping wet gear) and the rental gear looked well worn, but they took good care of us and we had some great dives.
We'll probably be back to Cozumel, but will stay elsewhere.
