“Nice place to shop and get a snack”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

We stopped here on a recent cruise to Cozumel. There are several nice little shops and food vendors that line the Plaza. We were able to find a piggy bank for our daughter that does not have a stopper in the bottom (you have to break it to get the money out). We will likely go back on our next visit to Cozumel.

“Fun, Fun, Fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

A great place for all! Safe, secure, family fare in a laid back, relaxing atmosphere with LOW pressure rather than a pushy atmosphere with some of the best Mexican food in the area. People are genuinely friendly to Americans and one can find much more than the everyday "trinkets" so common in the gift shops of most port cities.

Night life is colorful and festive and well worth the modest prices on this island. Our third and certainly not our last trip here.

“sunday's your day to go!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

The locals dress up on sunday evenings, often with live entertainment. A relaxing evening for all. There's always something to do or see on the square.

“Great place to walk around and enjoy shopping. Get Ice cream..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We go here often. The plaza is just a nice place to walk aound and shop. There is always something going on during the day. The best part is an ice cream vendor on the south end of the plaza. The best cocnut ice cream there is. There are only a couple places on the island to get ice cream, so get it here. Enjoy yourself and have fun in a nice safe place.

“Shops and food - live music on weekends - quiet in the evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

We spent six nights here in Cozumel. We've been here before by cruise a few times, but never spent the nights in Cozumel.

It's a great Island with lots of nice things to do and see. And then there's the main Plaza. When Cruise Ships are here this place is overflowing with people. There's plenty of stores (even many sell the same things) and food'n'drink options. There are also some food carts selling different kinds of meals.
If you are able to spend some extra time, it's worth to compare prices and to bargain with the sellers. In the evening before the shops close you might even catch a very good deal.
Even there's lots of restaurants the quality does vary a lot. Many sell the typical so-called "mexican" food. Even it's quite touristy, the "Palmeras" offers you the best deal/value. If you look for real mexican...you have to head out of the Plaza and go to the Mercado.

In the evenings and on days without Ships the Plaza gets very quiet. It's nice to see this side too. But on sundays almost all shops stay closed....too bad if you wanted to shop. But it's also good for the locals to have a day for themselves.
On most Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays there's live mexican and latino music. People sit around the park, have some easy food and drinks and are having a good time. Some are even dancing. If you have the chance to see this side of Cozumel it's sure worth it. There are also some street artists performing.

Be aware that most shops close around 8pm and most restaurants between 9pm and 10pm. It gets really quiet around that time and you might find yourself alone. But since Cozumel is such a nice and peaceful place that's no problem.

The Plaza is a great place to be. During the day or in the evening. Cozumel really has two very different sides...the busy time, when all the Cruisers are in...and then the quiet side when it gets dark. It's nice to enjoy both...
