We went to Discover Mexico first so there was plenty of beach time afterward. Our tour guide, Marysol, made this mini slice of Mexico come alive. Her sense of humor and her love of Mexico gave me a whole new sense of this country. Her sensitivity to the many cultures that have created the Mexican people of today was balanced with a respect for the Mayan culture and those who came afterward. The time was very well spent. The video and the art gallery were far more interesting than I expected. The models of pyramids and churches, government buildings and sports arenas were well done. Without a tour guide the background stories and fascinating details would have been missed completely.

We stopped at Discover Mexico while on a cruise aboard the Carnival Dream. This was listed as a tour off the ship but I found it we would have more time doing it on our own. I was able to find a $5 off coupon online, too! We were about the only people in the park when we stopped around noon on 11/28/11. After seeing the real buildings, it was a pleasant surprise to see the miniatures were still 2-3 feet tall and very detailed. Hope they get more customers and can keep this attraction open. If you only have an hour, it's still worth it.

Last month my husband and I went in a Carnival cruise that made a stop at Cozumel island and we decided to take a tour to this new park that the shore excursion manager in the ship recommended us.  I have to say that we were gladly surprised with this tour. The park is like taking a trip to Mexico in one single place. Our guide was Martin and not only he was very knowledgeable about the mexican culture, but he made our tour a very fun one telling us all the facts and histories about his country. Our kids also loved it. Wish we could go back again soon.

We went on a cruise with Royal Caribbean and went to this park as part of an excursion. They have replicas of Mayan ruins, a very nice museum which features art from all over Mexico and a small market and lady making tacos as well as a couple of snack bars. Chucho was our tour guide and he was very informative. If we had gone alone it may have been a little boring for us and our 11 year old son. Chucho made it very interesting and was very attentive to the older guests with us that were also on the cruise. It takes about 1-2 hours to go through and I recommend it if you are a history buff or if you have a guide that can explain the art and replica ruins.

We went here as part of a tour package that included Chankanaab Park. We were pleasantly surprised. It started with an well done short video highlighting the sights of Mexico, followed by a small art exhibit showcasing the country's history and talent.
We were then taken outside to walk through the country's three major historical periods as demonstrated by scale models. The 1:25 scale models were of Mayan and Aztec pyramids, Colonial period Cathedrals and Post Colonial religious and secular buildings.

Our guide, Diego was a real treat. We really enjoyed his enthusiasm and knowledge, especially learning about Mexico's real independence day! :-)
