“great resort”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

Very good resort. Nice spacious rooms, all facing ocean. Ours was on the first floor and was designated as 'garden view', so it's cheaper then rooms on floor 3 and above, which are designated as 'ocean view'. We loved first floor ( we are not so young) and would not trade it for a higher floor even if there would be no additional premium to pay. All rooms have balcony, or patio on the lower level. Food was good, especially fish.
Snorkeling was very good. Staff was very helpful. My only disappointment - they did not have entertainment every night, as all other all-inclusive resorts had, and we've been to many resorts throughout Caribien.

Location- was in an area that was safe to walk around, however the shops and cruise ship ports were about a 10 minute taxi ride. But everything is right there. Spent an entire afternoon just browsing around. Beach was absolutely amazing. One side was where there was coral reef which made for hours of awesome snorkeling. Seen stingrays, angel fish, star fish, crabs, ton's of awesome colored fish near the pier which separated the beach from the snorkeling area. Bring some bread from the resort to feed them and it will keep you busy for easily hours. The beach was absolutely calm, clear, warm, just fantastic.
Food- Breakfast was always good. Always had a choice. Dinner and lunch not so much. Had a really hard time finding something to eat for dinner. However the restaurant that you can book a time for was amazing. We didn't try it until the last night unfortunately. Wish we went there the entire time.
Rooms- Rooms were big. Had more than enough space in the bed area as well as the closet and bathroom. Was always kept clean. Did have an incident where my phone charger went missing, but.. I didn't cause a to do over a 15 phone cord.
Service-Pretty good. Crews at these resorts work day and night and do such a good job.
Entertainment- Did have mini golf which kept us busy on nights where the entertainment was done and over with. Entertainment was usually kid friendly. Was always fun to watch the kids get involved and have a good time though. There was an adults pool and a kid pool. Also a game room above the mini gulf station.

Only thing that really affected me during this stay was the food.

Our family arrived at the end of December 2013 ,Airport was small but we were the only flight to arrive during this time .Short ride to the Hotel and quick check in . Due to the heavy rain the buffet was moved inside , selection was basic but after a long flight we appreciated the warm food...We worked our way toward the smaller pool which was much less occupied. The snorkeling was fantastic ,they put out a large inflatable raft and banana to attempt crossing it , kids had a great time .rooms were clean but could have been updated with newer washroom facilities. When the floor got wet from the rain you had to be careful as it was extremely slippery ,food was plentiful if you arrived in time ,after there were some shortages .New Year meal was in the fancy restaurant that you had to wait in line to book....staff were always pleasant and helpful ....I would certainly return to this hotel

Room Tip: all have ocean view ask for the higher floors the view is better

This was the 4th time we have stayed at this resort. We come to Cozumel to relax, lay on the beach, read and do nothing. We know what we are getting here. A great view, hard working people, clean resort, good food, close to downtown, etc. You can pick apart any place but for our money this place is very hard to beat. We will come again next winter and enjoy ourselves while it is cold in Nebraska. We have done all of the excursions and things on the Island so we normally just hang out on the beach and enjoy the Ocean. Great snorkeling off the beach and a fun floating bananna looking thing in the bay in the Ocean in front of the resort.

Room Tip: There is not a bad view in the hotel that we have experienced.

Booked this resort through Costco - excellent choice. The rooms were large and very nice. The views from the balcony spectacular. Snorkeling was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good - the reservation restaurant was exceptional. Drink service was prompt and had continued follow up with refills. In the buffet restaurant there was also the option of ordering off a menu, which we did several times. Very nice option. Overall excellent rating!

This was not a 4 star hotel. I would not rate this even 3 stars. The food was horrible. The rooms were clean but reminded us of some roadside motel. The a.c. was never right. The tv was a piece of junk. The bars never had more than one bartender ever. There was entertainment only one night out of 7. The beach is mostly rocky and there were never enough chairs for the amount of people in the resort. I would not go back if it were free!

I was with a group who just returned. You are always going to have a few snafus no matter where you stay. But as they say, ask and you shall receive. Half of us stayed in the old section and half in the newer section. Like said on other reviews, older had bigger rooms and tower had more updated but smaller rooms. The older rooms did need a little TLC( tender loving care).Updated in other words, but they were always spotless after the maids came through. The staff was always there to help if just asked. Some stood out more than others. Lourdes was one, she always and a great smile and was very pleasant. She always asked if you needed anything as she walked by. And Jose the bellboy was the same. He always smiled and ask if you needed any help. On a whole the staff was very friendly. Food wise, if you couldn't find anything to eat shame on you. Our group all had good experiences at the La Veranda Restaurant (reservation needed.) The presentation of the food was very nice as well as the food and desserts. You have to remember the Mexican beef is different than others. The salmon and mahi mahi dinners were excellent. Wait staff were polite and friendly. Also there was a gentleman playing piano which was nice and always appreciated applause and tips. The grounds of the resort were always clean and orderly. Until the chair buzzards would get up at 5:30am and swoop down with their towels to reserve them or take them down to the beach. I guess the only way to solve this is that the hotel should get more chairs and recliners. Pools were nice. Activities and entertainment at the main pool were provided and the live cover band they had was great. Activities like snorkeling right off the beach and kayaking at the hotel was a plus. The views from the upper floors were quite spectacular of the Caribbean and cruise ships going by. All in all the Resort was very nice. Would I go back, sure.

Room Tip: Higher the better view. 4th floor or higher
