Everything at this resort was wonderful! The staff, the food, the drinks and the rooms were quite enjoyable. The beach was amazing! Everything you could imagine wanting to do on a vacation is all in one place. Any excursion outside of the resort can easily be arranged right in the lobby. We also made some new friends! I can't wait to come back.

This was our first trip to Cozumel, and we enjoyed our stay at El Cozumeleno. The pools, the proximity to the private beach, and the really friendly staff make this a good place to stay. The food was not so great.

El Coz has a really nice combination of pools so there is a place for everyone to play or relax. Throughout the afternoon, they offer activities at the main pool...games, water aerobics, etc. The private beach is just steps away from the pool areas. The beach is nice and sandy (with some rocky areas) and includes a long pier. The snorkeling right off the beach is really good. You can just put on your gear and go right out...really fun. Plenty of shaded areas are also available on the beach if you don't want to bask in the sun.

The resort has an on-site dive shop, but I wouldn't recommend them if you are here for diving. My husband and sons booked their dives through the shop, but they were actually contracted out with Scuba Du, with the exception of a beach dive the first day. If we stay here again, they will book directly from Scuba Du or another dive shop and save a little money. They did have great dive experiences.

The food was not great. It was definitely not up to par with other all-inclusives we have experienced, and I don't feel like we are too picky. It was really the same every day and just not that good. On our four-night stay, we went into town two nights to eat out because of it. We were so tired of the food offerings. On Tuesday night they had a Fiesta on the beach with live music. They had the food set up close to the beach and tables on the beach. We thought the food would be different/something special. No....the same food set up differently! The food and drinks were our only complaint. The drinks and drink selection were definitely marginal.

We booked two adjoining rooms. When we went to our rooms, they did not adjoin, but were next to one another. They said the adjoining room to ours was out of service. Our king bed was comfortable (seemed to have a foam topper on it), but our boys' double beds were really hard. The showers were good and had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Spend the extra $9 per person for ocean view rooms; it's worth it.

Check in/out were easy, and even though check-out is at 12:00 and our flight didn't leave until 5:40, they hold your luggage and allow you to stay on-site and continue to eat and use all the facilities. Overall...this was a really nice, relaxing vacation and a good value.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean views and a high floor.

This is our second time to stay at El Cozumeleno and it was every bit as wonderful as the last stay! Everyone of the staff are very friendly and outgoing, making us feel very welcome. They have activities going every day that are fun for everyone, such as water aerobics, bingo, frisbee game, etc. At night they have great entertainment. Our favorite was Mexican night where all the food is set up outside in elaborate settings in a festive atmosphere, then around 8:00 is the show with all the senors and senoritas dancing and singing and then in come the mariachi band. It was a great night! The hotel is right on the sand beach and is a good place to snorkel. I'm sure that we will be going back again and hope to take some folks with us!

My family has stayed at several all inclusive resorts and this was the worst experience! I would like to say that the maids, bell boys and wait staff, rental car man and the room service staff were absolutely wonderful!! Thank you so much for your hard work and kindness! The beautiful water and view of it from the room were breathtaking and the snorkeling was out of this world!!! It is really to bad with all this that it was not enough to make up for the bad.

The food was awful!! There were birds everywhere and not just a few here and there that you would expect being outdoors. They were on the tables, getting in peoples plates when they would get up from their table. We had one person guard our table while the rest of us got up the one time we ate there. The birds were landing on the buffet line also. My son was sick after eating a burger from the snack bar. His face turned white and he was dizzy and on the pot all day :( We only ate room service after that and basically stuck to a sandwich and dessert. We had been to another resort for 4 days prior to this and were all healthy and had healthy stomachs before our first meal here. This is really sad for the staff outside as they all work so hard and were so nice.
The pool by the swim up bar was dirty and I was scared to get in. The jacuzzi smelled of urine. The mini golf game was fun. The swim up bar was nasty and smelled something horrible when you would get close to it. The service at the swim up bar was horrible. Manuel treated us poorly for some reason. We are very friendly people and I always say thank you and talk kindly to the staff at resorts and this guy was so unpleasant day after day. We would order a drink and he basically ignored us sometimes. I guess he was refusing to serve us for some reason. The other bartenders were ok I guess. The drinks were blahhh and I still left tips hoping that would help and it did not. They all looked annoyed by anyone who wanted to order a drink. When we checked in it took forever and the lady kept stopping and doing something else. It is rude...finish with one person and then move on to the next persons needs.

The the owners and management of the Elcozumeleno your resort could be wonderful you have a lot of very hard working kind people. Bartenders are a large part of the all inclusive vacation and yours made having a few drinks while on vacation a bummer. No one expects gourmet food just safe clean food that doesn't make people sick. I am a travel agent and I have to say unless you address these problems I will not be recommending your resort. We are easy to please family and this was just ridiculous!!

I would recommend the Melia next door or the Iberostar before I would this resort. Neither of those two have a great beach right in front but you can walk down just a lil ways and enjoy a good beach and water. Cozumel beaches are public so no worries :)

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the newer tower if you prefer a updated room. The rooms in the original are much bigg...

Loved the resort and rooms and activities! Food was pretty good but the restaurant was our fav! The beds were very comfy which I was pleasantly surprised with after reading other reviews. The pools were awesome and so was the beach area. Liked that we could rent snorkeling equipment free of charge but wished it was longer than 1 hr intervals. Overall it was a great a great place and experience! I have already recommended it to family and friends and we just got back yesterday.

This place was just amazing. The staff is so incredibly friendly, helpful, and hard working. I never had any problems with anything the entire week. Food and drinks were very good and the snorkeling on the resort was great. I would go here many times over.

Room Tip: Ocean view is worth the little extra charge.
