This hotel is great. The staff are the best. The waitress Michelle, the bell men, the waiter in the ala carte restraunt for breakfast, and the cleaning ladies were all very pleasant and hard working people. The food was good. The rooms are nothing special but clean and comfortable especially on the upper floors. Snorkeling right on the resort beach. The Polaris tour is a must. The el cozumeleno was all we could hope for onour family vacation. I will be back.

The hotel grounds were nice, the beach & snorkeling were great. Food was pretty good, there was always something fresh or grilled to choose from. Bed was hard, but they did have a foam topper you could get on request, which helped. Bartenders and waiters were usually attentive, but sometimes we did feel ignored. The front desk people did not seem too helpful sometimes, for example when we asked them to find out if a local restaurant was open, they told us to go up to our room and look them up in the phone book. We went on an early dive and wished there was an earlybird hot breakfast option, but nothing was available until 7, which was after we left for the day. But overall, we were very comfortable and well taken care of, and will definitely return.

Went over x mass, it was wonderful. Great staff everybody is so nice. Good food, there is a nice variety you can choose from, like fine dining, buffet food, snack bar or a la cart. Drinks are ok too, just ask for a double. Everything is soooo clean, It seemd like the staff was always cleaning something. Nice pools, great snorkeling. Nice room with a beautiful view. The pools were nice, but to cold for us to go in, the ocean was actually warmer, great snorkeling. We do rec water shoes since most parts of the beach going into the ocean are very rocky/slippery. We do recc to bring cash , small bills. Everybody takes US$, but if ya use large bills , you dont get change back. The xtra activities, like day tours, parasailing and so forth have to be payed in cash, too. There is no ATM at the hotel (had to walk to the nxt hotel down the road). Taxi ride into town is about $7, downtown was a hassel, because all the stores/vendors are trying to get ya in to buy something. I guess thats the only thing we did not like. Overall our stay was great. Nice relaxing!

The positive: rooms are big, staff are extremely courteous, and beach is amazing. We were able to snorkel right off the beach from the hotel. The pros on the food are that they grill food for you, so the omelette, tacos, fajitas are fresh grilled and good. They also have awesome shrimp cocktail.
The cons: the rest of the food is nothing special (even at the restaurant where you make reservations). On the rooms, the beds and pillows are hard, furnishings are older, and the bathroom well reminds you of a locker room. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

This was our family's Christmas present. We really enjoyed our holiday, with a great staff looking after us. Food was good, beautiful ocean view from our patio. King size bed was comfy. Pool side staff always available to get our drinks, Miami Vice drinks were the best. Octavio our waiter in the buffet restaurant was simply amazing. We are actually considering doing this again next Christmas. Thanks for making our holidays so enjoyable.

Fantastic property. Our whole family went for Christmas and could not have had a better time.
the sevice was exceptional and staff treated us like family. One member of our party was in a wheel chair and received even more special attention. Special thanks to Michelle in the bar area, Edwin in the dining room, and a very special bellman / doorman who bent over backwards for us. Food was good and our rooms were wonderful

Room Tip: higher floors have better views. fifth floor was great

Just spent X-Mas week at El Coz with wife and 19, 18 year old sons. Very friendly staff and clean rooms; service was excellent. Great protected beach with fantastic snorkeling - saw 5 rays, 2 scorpion fish, moray eel and many small barracuda. Food was OK but basic and got old by the end of the week; breakfast is the best but you may want to try a few dinners in town. TV is in lobby bar and too small if you're into watching any sports; nice atmosphere in bar area though before dinner. Two wings of hotel - one newer and one older; older rooms clean but dated; hard beds but I like that. great views from every room with fantastic ocean breezes; turned off A/C when we got there. Great location - close to marina with dive boats - 25 minute walk; right next to golf course. Good beach walks north - up to kite surfing beach. Travelled all over island and think this is best spot; close to town but not in town.

Room Tip: Ask for new wing or compare prices and go for value (old wing).
