“Exceeded 90% of Expectations”
Reviewed November 23, 2011

We spent 8 nights at the Coz Palace from 11/11 to 11/19. Without a doubt, we can echo the positive reviews about the food, cleanliness of the resort, excellent snorkeling, friendliness and quality service from the bar and waitstaff and room amenities. From the 'basics' of living in a new place for week, here are some additional thoughts:
- The noise in the rooms from the hallway is a real issue. I wore ear plugs and wasn't bothered but my spouse was awoken numerous times from people in the hallway at late hours and door closings. Don't know how to correct this other than sound deadening in the halls and around the doors.
- The bathroom water pressure and hot water was great, never had any problems at all and the water is potable.
- The balconies are large and usable. We spent the early mornings out there on the hammock prepping our minds for a day of relaxation.
- We split on upgrading to the conscierge. Our first room on the 4th floor was louder but had a softer bed than the room on the 5th floor. I liked the added amenities like the pillow menu and aromatherapy as well as expanded room service menu and the better view. If you don't spend a lot of time in the room, save the 380 credits.
- The bed was firm, but softer than any other room we've had in the caribbean.
- The hot tub was huge, and we enjoyed using it and the bubble bath.
On the resort itself and location
- The liquor selection was pretty good, but you have to ask if you want something you don't see!
- The 'romantic dinner' is not worth 350 credits if you have excursions you'd rather do, although it was a nice dinner.
- The store across the street was great, and we used it a number of times for personal products and ginger ale (which they didn't have for some reason).
- It's a 5 minute walk downtown to the pier shops, and probably 15 to the ferry dock.
- It's worth a walk next door and up the elevator to Prima's for a drink or piece of pie.
- There is a peso ATM in the resort.
- The resort doesn't really push it too much, but there is a time share push that goes with your 1500 resort credit orientation. Our person turned to stone and hurried us along when we said we weren't interested.

Overall, we'd return in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: stay away from the elevators.

This was our third trip to the Cozumel Palace in the past four years.
Everything was as great as ever.
The rooms were very nice with the ocean view.
The beds are comfortable and pillows are plentifull.
The food is great with four restaurants to choose from.
One really nice feature about the dining experience is that you can order from any eatery from any eatery. So in those cases were I want steak and my wife wants Mexican, we can sit in any restaurant and both be saitisfied.
The staff is very accomodating and knowledgeable.
The activities are abundant if you want to partake.
There are many things to do and see in the area so I recommend investigating as much as possible from the internet so you'll be prepared to make your arrangements when you get there. We talk to many guests who didn't plan ahead and miss out on some fun adventures.
Many excursions may be included with your vacation package.
The snorkeling at the resort is good and there are many other opportunities around the island that are easy to get to.
The Atlantis submarine is a little expensive but worth the money. We reached a depth of 112 ft. and it was as comfortable as sitting at your kitchen table, but with spectacular scenery.

Room Tip: The Junior Suite is the common room with the ocean view. The upgrade will be the same room with a p...

Our family of 5, including a 7 year old girl, and high school boys, had a blast at the Cozumel Palace during Spring Break of 2011. If you are looking for an all-inclusive that adults and kids of all ages can enjoy, I’d encourage you to stay at Cozumel Palace. If you want time alone without kids, yours or others, I would consider another option, e.g., adults-only all inclusive, at least during Spring Break or the summer vacation. If you are taking your kids to an all-inclusive over Spring Break, I felt Cozumel felt safer, calmer, and less partying than Playa del Carmen.

If you need space for 5 people, I’d recommend booking a room in a junior suite. Ours had two stories, with a Jacuzzi hot tub on the first floor, near the sliding glass doors, a pull-out bed, a large king bed, and then a king size bed upstairs. It was a perfect room for 5 people. All the rooms face out over the ocean, and offer fantastic views, including beautiful sunsets. The suite was large, very clean, with modern, room bathrooms. The balcony bordered the small sandy area in front of the hotel, and only about 25 yards from the ocean. Warning – if you are on the first level, near the sand, and have your sliding glass doors open, any other guests playing or running in the sand are only a few feet away. If you want a bit more privacy, you may want to consider requesting a room on a higher level.

The service at Cozumel Palace is hard to beat. Every staff member was very eager to help, and they were always smiling, laughing, and attentive. At poolside, the waiters are constantly are asking if anyone needs a drink or appetizer. The bartenders at the pools will make any drink, even if they seemed to be less than full strength. The Palace has a couple very friendly, sweet young women who organize activities and art projects for younger kids. Our 7 year old asked to spend time at this activities center every day, which was a nice break for the parents.

The pools at this resort are beautiful, large, clean, and we had no problem finding lounge chairs. Although you can't walk from the hotel into the surf, if you prefer a beach experience over a pool, there is a pretty good sized area at each end of the pools where there are lounge chairs in areas that have been covered with clean, smooth, sand. Our 7 year old had lots of fun playing in the sand, and there are no concerns your kids will wander into the ocean, as there is a glass wall barrier at the border of the sand.

The staff works hard to offer entertainment and activities to break the boredom. If you want a resort that is quiet and peaceful, I’d consider going somewhere else. But, if you or your kids want to play ping pong, or learn different dances, or attend carnival like games and contests in the evenings, you’ll find plenty to do at the Palace.

The food is very good, and the variety is surprising. At breakfast, there is a buffet, but the chefs will cook you eggs in whatever style you want. You can eat breakfast in an open, bright, airy restaurant, or enjoy breakfast out by the pool in front of the restaurant.

The snorkeling is very convenient. The Cozumel Palace provides free snorkeling equipment, and you simply walk a few stairs down into the water. The variety of fish right in front of the resort is above average, including sting rays and many different types of fish, in very clear water. If you want to see coral and more variety, you’ll need to take a boat out to the reefs. But you can’t beat the price (free) and convenience. At times, the sea was choppy and could be intimidating to novice swimmers. I’d recommend using a life vest.

We used our points to swim with the Dolphins (at Dophinaris, only 2-3 blocks down the street from the Cozumel Palace). It was an amazing experience, especially for the kids. You can touch, pet, kiss and get pulled by the dolphins. The staff is very friendly, efficient, organized, and safety-conscious (and assured us they are no longer capturing wild dolphins for their park). The pictures they encourage you to buy are very expensive. However, they are professional quality, captured each of us during each contact with the dolphins, and, in our opinion, were well worth the high price. If you don’t want to pay lots of money for pictures, you can simply leave when you are finished. We did not see anyone forcing the visitors to look at or buy the pictures. But, once you see them on the computer, they are so good it is hard not to buy them.

Another thing we liked about the Palace is that there are professional photographers walking around all day and during the evening entertainment and activities. They will take as many pictures of you and your family as you want. At the end of our stay, we spent a half hour picking out about 50 pictures. This was a nice way to get professional quality photos of our entire family. If you have resort points, you can get lots of pictures at no cost. We had to pay for ours because we spent the credits at Dolphinaris.

I have only two relatively minor gripes. First, it would be nice if there was a way to make the hallways and doors quieter. In the morning, through no fault of the management, we were woken up by families with young kids loudly closing their doors, banging down the hallways, and able to hear them talking through our walls. This was not such a problem that it would keep me away from staying here again. Also, when are dropped off in front of the Palace from the airport, be forewarned that the front of the hotel and lobby are two feet off a very busy, bustling, downtown two lane street. The atmosphere is not ideal. However, my worries quickly left me as I stepped inside the lobby with its staff handing me a cool towel, a drink, and the beautiful view out to the ocean.

Room Tip: Book a two level junior suite if you need a room for 5.

As you can read through hundreds of positive reviews of the Coz Palace, I will keep this short.
Food was amazing, beds were so comfortable with mountains of pillows. Views from the rooms were spectacular, staff were very helpful and genuinely friendly. Drinks were good, snorkeling off the dock was fun with lots of fish, rays, and even an eel to see. We will be back!

Room Tip: We loved the concierge level, but most of the rooms have great views.

Our stay at Cozumel Palace was wonderful! The staff was gracious and helpful, the food and service was first rate, and our accommodations on the Concierge Level were top notch--complete with double jacuzzi sunken tub, king bed, balcony overlooking the water, and living room. The hotel itself is a bit dated and needs some "freshening up." The outdoor common areas were quite nice--lovely pools, comfortable lounge chairs, and lots of space to relax and enjoy. Also, there were no children anywhere, so it was the perfect place for adults who want to get away from typical "family" venues.

Room Tip: Concierge Level is the way to go if at all possible.

Our fourth vacation in as many years at the Cozumel Palace. The facilities are exceptional from the rooms to the four restaurants. The food is first class from breakfast to dinner and all you can eat. The staff know you by name the first day and go out of their way to make your stay outstanding. Don't know about the other Palace Resorts, but if they are anything like the Cozumel Palace you cannot go wrong.
If you are a diver they have a dive shop and pier on the premises. And if you choose to dive with a different company they will pick you up the on pier.

We have stayed at several Palaces as members and this may well be the very best trip of all!! First, the airport flying directly into Cozumel was very easy and within a few minutes we were at the hotel. The disadvantage was they only have a few direct flights in and out. Upon arrival we were greeting by the staff and our luggage was taken and delivered to our room within a few minutes. Edgar had worked with us by email prior to our trip and we had scheduled most of our spa and excursions. He was excellent to make sure that all of our needs were accomodated. The staff checked us in smoothly. The rooms are large and awesome with a wonderful ocean view and in room jacuzzi. Very nice covered balconys.

All of the food was wonderful and we did not spend a penny on food or drink outside the resort. In the mornings breakfast was buffet which was excellent. You are greeting by hostess Julieta who is very personable. All of the staff are wonderful and friendly. Our favorite at breakfast was Fili and Fernando who were very special. The chefs were fabulous. Manual was the head waiter who oversaw that service was spectacular.

Most of the time we had lunch around the pool area. The waiters, bartenders were wonderful serving drinks and food. Our favorites were Henri, Silvia, Roger and Camalie. You could not ask for any any better service or more friendy personable people.

Daniel was over activites and entertainment. Of all the Palaces that we have stayed at, this was the best entertainment and socialization of all. He does a great job.

Dinner was also excellent in all restaurents. Ask for Cesar to make special fire fried ice cream for dessert. At the Mexican Restaurent Yosef and Oscar were wonderful and they do a excellent job with Mayan coffee. Our favorite was the Italian and the absolute best part was Miguel. He was a wonderful waiter and we enjoyed him so much. Gabriel was excellent to help with wine choices and did a great job. Room service was very prompt and the maid service was kept spotless the entire week.

Spa was good and snorkeling was good on the excursion and also in front of the resort. It is very easy to take the ferry and spend the day at Playacar Palace and walk the street of Fifth Avenue. It is also a very easy walk into Cozumel town from the resort. There was never any concern regarding safety at all.

We hated to leave as the staff had become like family to us during the week.

Thank you to Mr. Ariztegui, General Manager and the entire staff of the Cozumel Palace for a wonderful week!!!
