“Allegro Cozumel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2013

We recently returned from a trip with 12 of our favorite people to a stay at the Allegro Cozumel. We were met quickly at the front and taken care of without a hitch. We arrived around noon and check in time is not until 3 so I was a little concerned. The front desk attendant checked us in, gave us room bracelets (just not the room key!) and we were free to roam. Bathrooms in the lobby allowed us to change into bathing suits and start our vacation! We had booked 5 rooms and I was concerned about the rooms being spread out all over the resort but they were all close by. Easy to book excursions. We went parasailing, scuba diving, took a snorkel trip, and some visited the other side of the island. Love the Allegro and will surely be back. Very family friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not near the sewer plant. I didn't smell it but several in my group did.

Arrived after a very long trip, made worse by a tropical storm, at 2am. Reception was superb, given the late hour and the fact that 38 of us turned up at the same time. Rain storm went on for 3 days, but the hotel staff made a valiant effort to keep things working. We were diving so the rain was not really an issue.
Food and drink were typical of an all inclusive resort. Sometimes it was harder to find tea and coffee than beer and margaritas, and in general the coffee was appalling!
Room was spacious and comfortable
Diving operation was first class.
We would certainly visit again.

This was our first stay at Allegro and we absolutely fell in love with it. The staff was amazing, Sergio and Raul were great! The location was perfect. The grounds were well maintained and were landscaped beautifully. We saw many iguanas throughout the resort. The kids fell in love with the water park. The beach was very clean and was perfect for the kids. We would definitely go back again and we will recommend it to our friends and family.

Had another great trip at the Allegro Cozumel, this was 4th time to Cozumel and third time at the Allegro. The kids palyed all over the resort, the Waterpark was fun, still needs repair, but fun, loved the pools, the beach and the many Iguana's that my two girls names Lenny, Larry, Lucy, Gary and Rosita. the food was the best that it has been from the previos trips and the staff was great. They looked overworked, but always had friendly smiles. Rual and Jorge were great activites coordinators and MC for the nightly shows. My girls just love them, they are why we go back. Freddie the bartendar was outstanding as always at the beach Bar and Raul runs the Resturants with an outstanding menu and will get you those one offs when requested.

We love this resort and plan on going back soon.

On this trip, 11 of us stayed for almost a week. Jaime and Diego are still there and doing a great job. They can often answer questions when the hotel front desk is to busy. We were again disappointed that its so hard to get a reservation with one of the 2 restaurants (Mexican and an Oriental). 2 of us were finally able to get the Oriental but after us, they said it was full. I'm not sure what the deal is w/these restaurants. Seems no one wants to make your reservation, they always say to come back later or next day or its full. However, we all noticed that these restaurants hardly have anyone actually dinning in them at any given time. When we went to our night for the Oriental we asked if anymore from our group could dine (there were 2 other couples in the whole restaurant). They said 4 more could come in. During our dinner only 1 other couple and a family of 4 came in. My advice, if you want to eat at one of these restaurants is to book it when you check in on the first day. If they say they are full the whole time, try going to it anyway one night anyway and see if they will let you in.

Summer time is their "down" season so not as many people (too hot I guess). Becuz of this there are not as many options (like food) and activities. We don't understand why the pizza was never offered (its one of their better items). The worst thing about summer is the mosquitoes, BRING LOTS OF BUG SPRAY WITH YOU! Everyone had whelps all over from mosquito bites. They even sprayed the complex every couple of days but it didn't seem to help. And when they mowed near your porch area it seemed to stir up the mosquitoes by the hundreds-just around your porch area. Our last nite in town I found a mosquito patch at a pharmacy for a couple of bucks. It actually seemed to help.
In Feb.2013 we paid the 10.00 per person extra for the superior premium room. Depending on how many are in a room this maybe worth it. We only got the regular room this time and they seemed to be older rooms-could use some maintenance. The 10.00 extra will get you closer to the beach and a mini fridge-which is nice when its summer, to keep your water or sodas cooler. Since these seem to be newer rooms as well, I think the A/C works better in them too.

Room Tip: It may be worth it to get the superior premium room especially in the hotter months.

Not sure if TL stayed at Allegro or Occidental Grand because Allegro was, at minimum, a five star stay. I'd give it nine if they could lose the mosquitos but the mosquitos were not exclusive to the resort. They covered the island. We stayed for seven days and wish we could have stayed another 358. Exceedingly friendly staff, cleaner than any resort I've stayed at in th U.S. and the food was top notch. If I make it back to Coz I'll be staying at Allegro.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms stay cooler in the mid summer months

Great location. This is our 4th stay at the Allegro. We absolutely love it. The staff goes way beyond your expectations. I notice some of these negative reviews about this place, if you have a complaint about something, just ask and they go out of their way to accommodate you. We have had nothing but excellent service each time. We go twice a year and at different times each year. So we have seen all kinds of people and weather. Can't complain about any of it.

Room Tip: Rooms are nice, ask for a regular coffee pot when you get there. I'm not smart enough to figure...
