“Fresh, delicious, great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

They mostly do take-out business with local families, but there's a small, pleasant covered dining area out back. You're unlikely to find a better seafood value than this - uncompromisingly fresh, expertly prepared, and inexpensive. My favorite is the fried grouper filet.

“Worth the Trip to find!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

We were diving in Cozumel, again (great place), and were looking for more of the local bent on seafood. We asked around, and Pescaderia San Carlos kept popping up. It's on the NE side of town (50 Avenue sur bis), and only open from 9 am to 6 pm, but still gives you enough time after a day of diving to get there.

It's strictly an open-air affair, with tables under a shaded roof. The menu is pretty much whatever was caught that morning, and ranges from fish to shrimp to squid to conch.

We each had something different, prepared in different ways. Beyond excellent.

Three of us ate full meals, with a total of 5 beer, for $42 US.

I am guessing the cab ride from town would set you back about $6-8, but if you have a car, the street parking is ample.

“Wow!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

We are Cozumel regulars but just discovered this place. They only serve lunch so we had to come pretty much immediately after diving but that was not a problem because the atmosphere is casual. Our server was very nice and attentive but spoke little English. However, between his broken English and our broken Spanish we did fine. Everything that we tried (ceviche, whole snapper, fried snapper and garlic fish) was outstanding. It was a ton of food. All that food plus 8 beers and a couple bottles of water was a little less than $40 US. The only problem that we had was getting a cab ride back to where we were staying. I would suggest prearranging with the cab driver that drops you off to pick you back up. You should be safe telling them 45 minutes or so.

“Great local spot for lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

I would not go as far as saying that this was the best food on the island. It was pretty damn close though.

Pescaderia San Carlos is a small seafood restaurant with a local feel. During our visit we tried the cevechi and Mexican style grouper. Both were great! The one man band that was playing was also a treat.

I would recommend Pescaderia San Carlos to anybody that is wanting to visit a restaurant with a local feel.
