Alberto's Beach Bar Restaurant
Ranked #8 of 24 Nightlife in Cozumel
Attraction details
Reviewed January 19, 2014

We traveled to Cozumel at the beginning of January with 4 adults and 2 children under the age of 10. We booked a snorkeling trip directly with Alberto’s. We showed up 10 minutes prior to the agreed upon time. The boat operator was there and said Alex, our guide, would be along shortly. After waiting for 40 minutes and still no sign of Alex, we left and said we would return. We returned later to find out that Alex had difficulties that morning. We understood, these things happen to everyone. We agreed upon a time the following day to return for the same private tour at the same rate. The next morning we arrived, again 10 minutes prior to departure. We were greeted by Alex who said there was a problem, he had another tour booked, but would set us up with a different guide and boat operator. Great! Alex left and we waited. We then talked to a man who seemed to be in charge. He assured us that another boat was coming. Great! We waited some more. We were then told to “walk down the beach and get on a boat down there.” We replied that the boat needed to come and pick us up. This man then got onto another boat and left. We waited some more. Finally (after 45 minutes) a boat appeared, but only had a boat operator on it, no guide. At this point, we left, extremely frustrated and disappointed. We did not have any other options for going out on a different trip as our time in Cozumel was over. This caused us a great deal of stress and upset during our otherwise wonderful time in Cozumel. Save your money and time and go somewhere else!

Within walking distance of Iberostar and Occidental Grand. Take a walk to get some fresh seafood caught within sight of the beach. Very casual, outdoor dining, massage table, gift shop.

We stayed a week in Cozumel in October, 2013. We traveled with another couple that we know. We went to Alberto's beach side one night. Everyone wanted sea food. Very pricey! Each couple split an entrée. Don't eat sea food a lot so don't know prices for sure but seemed on the high end. The food was good. The drinks were also on the high end. Just two other tables when we were there on a Tuesday night. Everyone else left and we stayed and played ping pong on the outdoor ping pong table. They had music playing and we had a lot of fun. We were shocked by the $350 bill we had when we left. Then, we were really shocked when they showed up at our condo 20 minutes after we left wanting another $58 they forgot to charge us. When we first got there they asked us where we were staying. We just gave them the name of the condo complex we were staying at. They must have asked for our name at the gate of the condo complex. We had a lot of fun but didn't intend on dropping over $400 dollars. Oh well, we were on vacation.

We stayed at Melia and were invited there from an individual from Alberto's. We had a great time and the food was very good. The band was entertaining and interactive with the audience. Inviting people to sing with the band, lots of fun! One fellow even got up and played guitar, he totally rocked. Planning to visit again definitely.

The setting is idyllic: right on the beach and seconds away from the sea. You can lay on the loungers after eating and sun and dip the time away. Interestingly the drinks are reasonably priced ($6.50 for a decent size margarita and $3.50 for a beer) but the food was a little pricy for the menu items. However we ate a fresh lobster (medium size) for two with all the trimming (rice, potatoes, vegetables and garlic bread) and it was $60. For us we had two beers, two margaritas, two lobster dinners, a huge plate of guacamole and chips for $87. A great lazy afternoon and well worth the drive. TIP- there are teo
