I had been to this park before (cooking classes!). This time we were on the beach with my niece and nephew. They had such a good time. We did this as an excursion while in Cozumel and this was their favorite excursion (beating out dolphin swim and sting ray alley).

We snorkeled, swam and played on a giant (floating) obstacle course. I would recommend this for someone with children. (Niece and nephew are ages 13 and 10).

This was a great day trip from a cruise docked in Cozumel. You can obtain a taxi discount if you ask your driver to make the reservation for you. There's a restaurant and ample water sports (most are included). Our kids (10 and 7) had tons to do and there was pool when they were tired of the beach. Good call for a day tripper.

The Deluxe Beach Break at Playa Mia offered by Royal Carribean is worthy of a beach visit. Cozumel has plenty to offer, beach, shopping, snorkling etc. but we chose a beach visit to enjoy the sun, have lunch and just relax. Unfortunately the sun only came out for a couple of hours and then it rained, but at least there was a sheltered eating area to take refuge in.

This beach club is open to the public and you could go on your own and pay the fees if you like. There are plenty of lounge chairs, nice sandy beach, and the lunch included in our excursion was a variety of salads, bbq chicken etc.. Drinks were also included in the excursion price so we enjoyed some frozen pina coladas etc. Service was top notch and the waiter was attentive and happy to accommodate any needs, just tip him at the end of your visit. The tour bus was organized and it made for a nice day at the beach. The kids got pictures taken with some birds and the iguana man was offering photos with his iguana as well. If looking to relax and enjoy a nice beach club the Playa Mia is worth a visit.

Ok, this was the coolest thing ever! It started out kinda scary b/c you have know idea who these people are trying to sell you these "deals" when you get off the ship in Cozumel. There were so many people yelling at us to offer us excursions; that part was overwhelming b/c you just don't know. So my son and I went into this tiny little office and bought this little excursion to Playa Mia. We were the only one in his little cab van. LOL
We got to Playa Mia and outside the entrance I thought, "Oh my Lord, what have we done". I think we paid about $45 per person. We went in and I was sooooo shocked! It was awesome. The beach, huge water toys and sports, beach chairs at no extra cost, an open bar, buffet of fresh fruit (from the area) and unlimited drinks. It was great! We went kayaking and parasailing. This was the highlight of our trip. You have to go here! You have to pay the taxi to get there AFTER you have already paid for your entrance to the park/beach. That kinda shocked us. The drive is less than 5 miles and you pay $16 each way. Then of course they want a tip. They tip you to death once you get in the park. Watch out! Fun in the Sun though!

We are a family of four - two children ages 8 and 6 - and visited Cozumel three times in 2013 - (ok - once was a cruise ship visit but that counts too!).

We have done several of the beaches and this one is probably the best, probably a toss-up betweeen playa mia and Chankanaab - just depends on what you are looking for - each is great in its own way.

NOTE - we bought the one day full pass that EXCLUDED free food and drink. We would buy the exact same pass again, but I think most people go for the food and drink option.

Likes:

LUNCH. standard menu - our lunch was reasonably priced. $4 beers and plenty of food for us and the kids - great nachos, mozzarella sticks and pizza. All of the food was above average quality - in fact quite tasty.

NEW AND CLEAN FACILITIES- the main pool, kids pool and slide are sparkling. Coming from our hotel(Allegro Cozumel - not recommended...) this was a site for sore eyes. I noticed that some reviews indicated that their kids were not interested in the twin water slides, but our 6 and 8 year old loved it, and so did I. DID I MENTION THE SPARKLING CLEAN POOL?

WATER SPORTS INCLUDED - we tried out both the kayak and paddle boats. they were fun and killed about an hours' time. By comparison - the PLAYA UVA beach wanted to charge us $35 just to use their clear bottom Kayaks ($70 for a family of four). By comparison, the cost of admission to the whole playa mia park was $30-$35 per person for everything. We ran out of time before trying out the hobie catamaran (also included). All of this equipment looked pretty new as well.

AQUA TRAMPOLINE / GYM - most of the beach parks (not chankanaab) have some kind of aqua gym, but this one looked to us to be the newest, cleanest and biggest around. For example we also went to MR SANCHOS, and their setup was more worn out and was about 1/2 the size of playa mia's. The kids spent most of their time at Playa mia on this obstacle course. lots and lots of fun.

HELPFUL STAFF AND PRIORITY ON SAFETY - there were lifeguards throughout the aqua gym. there were PLENTY of life jackets of all sizes to choose from (highly recommended for the aqua gym) and all of the jackets were shiny and new - a plus. The water sports area had another rack of shiny new jackets for use, no extra charge. As mentioned earlier, we also spent 1/2 day at MR SANCHOS, where they had a couple of old smelly life jackets in a cabinet for our kids - those jackets would not have been provided unless we asked.

DISLIKES - I have read that this place can get really crowded. we did not have this issue, so not a problem for us. It is however larger than Playa uva, nachi cocom and Mr sanchos.

Given all of the above, we will come back. The kids will demand it, and for the record my son wanted me to give this place 10 stars.....!
