We were in Cozumel about almost 2 years ago and went to La Perlita and had the best Red Snapper...since then I have been talking about that meal and just itching to return. We were just in Cozumel again last week and La Perlita did not dissapoint. If you are looking for the freshest of fish and seafood this is the place to be.
We ordered the Red Snapper and they brought the raw fish to the table for us to see and then asked how we wanted it prepared. We also tried the Lionfish. We had both grilled and they came with vegetables and rice and they were absolutely delicious!
You've got to try Lionfish - it is just amazing! This restaurant may be a little out of the way but trust me it so worth finding.

Went to La Perlita to experience their "Lionfish". The restaurant is located in a local neighborhood. The restaurant has a very nice causal atmosphere. They serve "Lionfish" a variety of ways. We chose to have ours as shish kabob's. They were great! The staff was very friendly. Highly recommend La Perlita if you are in Cozumel.

2 portions of the famed Lion Fish are offered for the price of Each portion is about 250 grams. I had the coconut crusted Lion Fish and the garlic lemon bitter grilled versus; both were great, but I preferred the garlic lemon butter. 30 pesos to get to the restaurant from the center of town. A safe quick and colorfully local 30 minute walk back.

Okay, this place is definitely off the beaten path. Several cab drivers recommended it so we gave it a shot. When the taxi pulled up in front of La Perlita, I thought "this doesn't bode well..." We nearly got back in the cab to try somewhere else. It's a grungy little place but don't let the looks fool you. This was one of the best meals I've ever had! I ordered the seafood stuffed fish fillet (grouper) and it was heavenly! Very casual restaurant with 5 star dining- a dichotomous yet delightful experience.
